TRENTON — A New Jersey judge said he would rule Tuesday if U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is a "natural-born citizen" under the U.S. Constitution and therefore could appear on the state's June 7 Republican presidential primary ballot.
Judge Jeff Masin in Mercerville heard Monday from a group of New Jersey residents and a Catholic University of America law professor. They insisted Cruz, born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father, did not meet the constitutional requirements to be president.
Similar arguments were rejected in Pennsylvania, where Cruz will appear on the April 26 primary ballot.
