Megaupload Demands Return of Millions of Dollars From U.S. Govt.

Megaupload is challenging the U.S. Government’s possession of millions of dollars in assets it seized from the company and its operators in January. The newly-filed and eye-opening motion slams the U.S. for holding the defendants liable for alleged offenses that aren’t even a crime, ignoring laws designed to offer them protection, failing to provide any detail whatsoever on alleged infringements, and pushing U.S. law far beyond its borders.
In addition to filing a general motion to dismiss the criminal case on the basis that the company was never properly served, Megaupload and defendants Kim Dotcom, Mathias Ortmann, Bram Van Der Kolk and Finn Batato are demanding the return of some, if not all, of the assets seized by the United States.

Listen to your Constituents

The citizens of Lisbon need to take a closer look at their elected officials and in particular our town council.  On May 8th, 2012, there was a Public Hearing regarding the 2012-2013 proposed budgets for both the school and the municipality.  During the Audience Participation, numerous citizens voiced their outcry at the proposed 2% pay increase for town employees.  Some of those that spoke had not received a pay increase in over nine years and everyone who did speak stated resoundingly that they were against the pay raise.  Apparently, the town council did not hear the people because every budget workshop since has contained 30-45 minutes of a discussion on the 2% pay increase.  These 30-45 minutes could have been better utilized to work through other budget issues.

It is increasingly apparent our town council care nothing for the regards of the people.  The people may have elected these councilors but these councilors DO NOT represent the wishes of the people.  Councilor Bowie (whose wife works for the town and this increase would affect the family income) is the driving force behind the pay increase and dictates to the other councilors how they feel.  All of the councilors were present during the Public Hearing and heard exactly what the wishes of the people were and then turned around and totally ignored them.  The town council has wasted numerous hours on this one subject after the people were very emphatic about what they wanted.

Councilor Gina Mason has always been a strong advocate for more people becoming involved with town government.  Councilor Mason has made comments about her not understanding why more people do not attend the council meetings or speaking out during Public Hearings.  Her position is shared by Chairman LaRochelle and other members of the town council with the exception of puppet master Bowie.  But let’s look at their track record, Councilor Pomelow was instrumental in taking away out right to speak on agenda items after the council has heard and discussed them.  Instead, we now have to speak on agenda items prior to the sponsor detailing what they are looking for from the council.  Also, look at the results of the Public Hearing; when the people speak they are totally ignored so why would anyone come out and want to participate in town government just to be ignored.

The true definition of a politician is” A person who can talk out of both sides of his mouth at the same time and say nothing.”  Look at Dale Crafts as a prime example:  Mr. Crafts told me personally, in front of a town councilor, he would provide me a copy of the $32,500.00 misappropriation investigation from the state attorney general’s office.  This was well over month ago and I have not heard another word from him on this subject.  He has not provided an update on his initial offer.

What this town needs and deserves are leaders.  Lisbon needs leaders who are not in office to further their personal agendas but to do what is best for the people of Lisbon.  What are currently in office are individuals who have no integrity or the best interest of the community.

In November VOTE them out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laptop Use Can Endanger Your Fertility in as Little as 10 Minutes

laptopuse 235x147 Laptop Use Can Endanger Your Fertility in as Little as 10 MinutesA study has uncovered information that may be alarming to laptop users. Using your laptop on your lap, as the product is designed to be used, can lead to scrotal damage within 10 to 15 minutes. The study, published in the medical journal Fertility and Sterility, measured the heating effects of laptops on 29 men.

Researchers used temperature sensors on the scrotums of the 29 men, then placed the laptop computers on their laps. It did not take long for the temperature to rise to levels that are known to damage sperm production. After 10 to 15 minutes of laptop use, the damage was observed. This is alarming, as countless laptop users often place the laptop on their laps for hours at a time.

Are You The Next Prisoner?

The United States is home to a gigantic socialist sector, larger and with a greater reach than any in the world, and it is fed by tax dollars and managed entirely by the government. Strangely, the opponents of socialized medicine and socialized industry don’t complain about it. In fact, all throughout the 1980s and 1990s, they urged its expansion.

It is called the prison system. It’s a fairly new system, but the cruelties of similar systems are so famed throughout history that they are spoken of by the Psalmist: “For the Lord hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners.”

The presumption in the Psalms is that prisoners are despised, ignored, forgotten, dismissed — and they are in our country, where this topic is not even on the list in the mainstream debate.

It’s stunning when you think about it. The “land of the free” is home to the world’s largest prison population. Americans constitute 5% of the world’s population, yet one-quarter of the entire world’s inmates are in the U.S. The ratio of the prison population to the general population is higher in than any other nation in the world. Russia is second. China is third.

New malware said to "dwarf Stuxnet in size and sophistication" has reportedly hijacked computer systems in Middle Eastern countries including Iran, Israel, Sudan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Researchers believe the malware known as "Flame" has been stealing and deleting massive amounts of information since 2010.  They said it was "one of the most complex threats ever discovered."

Flame is twenty times larger and far more advanced than Stuxnet, yet it isn't out to destroy as Stuxnet was.

Drones Shot Down Over Texas

Surveillance drones blasted out of the sky in protest against 4th amendment intrusion
Paul Joseph Watson
Tuesday, May 29, 2012
Following columnist Charles Krauthammer’s observation that the first person to shoot down a surveillance drone on U.S. soil will be a “folk hero,” gun enthusiasts in Texas have done precisely that as a protest against the use of spy drones on the American people.

Using consumer drones as target practice, Alex Jones and the Steiner brothers tested out the best way to bring down the drones on the 10,000 acre Steiner ranch as part of filming for Brothers in Arms, a new show which focuses on firearms and the second amendment.

With spy drones now commercially available for less than $1,000 dollars that are barely any different from the ones being used by police departments to spy on the public, Jones and the Steiners made short work of the devices during filming.

In fact, according to recent figures released by the Army's surgeon general, more than 110,000 U.S. Army personnel were taking antidepressants, narcotics, sedatives, antipsychotics and anti-anxiety drugs that were prescribed to them by doctors

The ICCIS sets forth specific “principles of maintaining information and network security which cover the political, military, economic, social, cultural, technical and other aspects.”

The ICCIS mandates that countries not be allowed to use information and telecommunications technologies “to conduct hostile behaviors and acts of aggression or to threaten international peace and security and stress that countries have the rights and obligations to protect their information and cyberspace as well as key information and network infrastructure from threats, interference and sabotage attacks.” Read the full text here.

If Violent Crime Rate is at 40-Year Low, Why is U.S. Spending S100 Billion a Year on Police?

Friday, May 25, 2012
If Violent Crime Rate is at 40-Year Low, Why is U.S. Spending S100 Billion a Year on Police?
From the amount of money spent each year in the United States on law enforcement, one might assume crime continues to be a growing problem.
But that’s not the case at all.
Crime rates today are at their lowest levels in 30 years and the rate of violent crime has dipped to a 39-year low. Yet the number of arrests between 2009 and 2010 declined only slightly, according to the Justice Policy Institute (JPI), which noted in its new report that police spending increased 445% between 1982 and 2007 and federal funding for police burgeoned by 729%.
Meanwhile, local, state and federal governments spend more than $100 billion each year on public safety and to maintain police ranks that exceed 710,000 nationwide.
Between 1993 and 2007 arrests for violent crimes dropped 27% and property crime arrests 22%. With fewer violent and property crimes being committed, the burgeoning ranks of police departments have concentrated on other offenses, particularly those related to the illegal drug trade. During the same period, drug-related arrests climbed 45%. The report notes that “Although Blacks make up 13 percent of the population, they make up 31 percent of arrests for drug offenses.”

Scientists have detected elevated levels of Cesium radiation in bluefin tuna caught off the coast of San Diego, California.

A new study has revealed elevated radioactivity in bluefin tuna caught off the coast of San Diego, California. Contamination concerns have plagued Japan after a massive earthquake and nuclear crisis rocked the country over a year ago.

A fish prized for its market value and as a delicacy in sushi restaurants worldwide, bluefin tuna are known for their great migratory patterns that start in coastal Japanese waters and span the entire Pacific Ocean, taking them as far San Diego.

While the scientists have said the fish they studied are safe to eat, their findings do raise new questions about the risk of fish from Japanese waters.

Frankly, we were surprised,” Nicholas Fisher, a professor of marine sciences at Stony Brook University, New York, and a member of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute team that completed the study, told the Associated Press.

Frick meets Frack

                          Frick Meets Frack

I attended the May 24, 2012 Planning Board meeting. I find that the more Planning Board meetings I attend, the more confused I become. It is painfully clear that the Planning Board is clearly out of their element.

First up was Premier Development: Requesting permission to continue on-going work, bringing in and selling materials. A neighbor is and has been complaining about a dust problem. After much discussion an obvious solution was reached.

Case # 11-08    Open Door Bible Church.
The Church is requesting permission to rent out the storage units in a commercial building that was permitted to be built in a residential area.

A member of the Planning Board did not like the sign advertising the storage units with a phone number to call. A long discussion ensued on that topic. Next they want the area around the storage units to be landscaped. Also brought up was hours of activity and lighting.
Talk about locking the barn door after the horses have escaped! ! ! !

All this should have addressed by Codes Enforcement and the Planning Board during the application and approval process.

The storage building was allowed to be built, illegally. Zoning was changed to allow the storage building. It would be assumed that renting the storage units was a given.

Why then, did the Church have to endure more than an hour of debate and discussion to allow a sign with a phone number so they can rent the storage units?  A church member said there is paving in front and on both sides of the building, and lawn at the rear, and that there is no lighting so there is no night activity. Problem solved. Permit approved.

Last on the agenda was Wayne Ricker, requesting permission to sub-divide three (3) lots on Mill Street. Planning Board asking questions they could have had answers to had they done on-site inspection on the applications.
The Town used to have a sign ordinance. I checked the Town of Lisbon Ordinances and did not find one! Where did it go? Why do we not have one now?

Especially when in these difficult  times of local businesses closing and we are paying a Community Development Director who is supposed to be actively trying to retain what businesses we have and attracting new ones? Where is he and what does he do?

Town Manager Steve Eldridge tells us at council and budget meetings he has hired a Town Planner, and wants $20,000 in the 2012-13 budget to continue with a town planner; to assist the Community Development Director and Planning Board.
If we have a Town Planner why is he or she not assisting the Planning Board with these issues? Issues that should be cut and dried if we have ordinances in place and a Planner to assist?

May 24th Planning Board Meeting

The Planning Board meeting on May 24th was yet another goat rope.  I have attended two Planning Board meeting and both were total chaos.  It was supposedly a Public Hearing on three cases:  Premier Development; Open Door Bible Church and Wayne Ricker.  After the Public Hearing would be the Planning Board's regular meeting.

The first two cases on the Public Hearing were fine.  Premier Development wanted to continue to haul rocks into the pit and crush these rocks into gravel to be sold to continue the development on the site.  An abutting neighbor complained about the amount of dusk in her yard.  The discussion ended by Mr. Kelly agreeing to work with the Water Department to try and reduce the dust.

The next case involved the Open Door Bible Church requesting permission to rent space in the Self-Storage Facility the Planning Board and the Town Council already approved.  I do not understand why they had to ask permission if the Planning Board and Town Council already approved the facility.  What did they think the church was going to utilize the storage space for any way?  It was perfectly clear at the town council public hearing the storage unit was being utilized to pay for the building of the gym for the school.   The discussion that followed was totally out of line in my eyes.  Steve Warren and Don Fellows want the church to landscape the facility and to replace the advertising sign.  Talk about jerking someone’s chain!

The third Public Hearing Case did not get off the ground.  Don Fellows made a point of order that the initial subdivision plan had not been approved by the Planning Board so therefore it could not be part of the Public Hearing.  After a lengthy discussion, the Planning Board agreed to suspend their rules; go out of the Public Hearing and into the regular meeting to hear the initial plans and then go back out and allow the Public Hearing to continue; which they did.  Of course, Don Fellows could not have brought this up prior to the approval of the agenda.  Apparently, Fellows wanted to show everyone how smart he is and how stupid everyone else is.  The Planning Board bounced around just like a ball between the Public Hearing and the regular meeting.

In the end, Premier Development was allowed to continue moving rocks and gravel in and out of the pit by a vote of 5-0; the Open Door Bible Church could rent the space with the condition they must produce a landscaping plan and an acceptable rental sign by a vote of 3-1-1 with Francis Drake voting against and Daniel Nezol abstaining.  Both of these men felt this was adding too much on the church for no apparent reason.  Look at the town owned property at 3 Village street and close to the Fire Station (the house the town burned down) and tell me where all the landscaping is there.

During the regular meeting, the Planning Board could not agree on whether or not to approve the subdivision of Wayne Ricker’s property.  So the Planning Board agreed to go on a walkthrough of the site on June 6th before making a decision.

After all of this chaos, the meeting turned to the idea by the Town Manager to hire a Planner for the town at $20,000 dollars.  Don Fellows mentioned it was not $20,000 dollars because there were matching funds available.  Since Don is on the Advisory Board, I am going to assume he knows what he is talking about.  Steve Warren had a very interesting point.  Steve asked why, if the town is already paying AVCOG and MMA, why not utilize them and save the $20,000 plus.  Steve also stated he had been in touch with the State of Maine Planner and he was willing to help the town for “FREE”.  I have always like “FREE”.

This is a great point Steve makes.  Why is the Town Manager asking to utilize more of our tax dollars for a Planner when we are already paying MMA and have AVCOG available for assistance?  Also if the State of Maine Planner is available to help for FREE then why spend our tax dollars?

livercleansingfoods 235x153 4 Natural Liver Cleansing FoodsLiver health is directly tied to your overall health, and poor liver health could very well be the root cause of many diseases that currently affect millions of people worldwide. Often assaulted with toxic substances like high-fructose corn syrup, which can ‘overburden’ the liver and subsequently lead to complications, it is very likely that your liver has experienced at least some degree of damage due to dietary and environmental factors. In fact, the only way to avoid the buildup of toxins in the liver would be to eat a nearly perfect diet free of additives, fillers, modified ingredients, or chemicals — virtually the opposite of the average American diet, which critically lacks any liver cleansing foods.
Thankfully, it is very possible to repair your liver naturally and help release excessive toxin buildup through the power of healing foods. Here are 5 natural liver cleansing foods:

The US Senate gave their approval to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in conjunction with certain pharmaceutical corporations, for a $6.4 billion “agreement fee” in the new Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act, S. 3187 (FDASI).

Drug manufacturers like Eli Lily & Co, Pfizer Inc, AstraZeneca Plc, and Medtronic Inc will provide regulatory reviews of new medical treatments and healthcare devices. The FDASI extends through to 2017.

The FDASI allocates “use fees” to the FDA as payment for “safety and efficiency reviews”.

The House of Representatives are scheduled to vote on the FDASI next week. And it is anticipated that the bill will be signed into law by Obama in early fall.

Mass repression in Quebec: A warning to the working class

28 May 2012
More than 1,200 people have been arrested in Quebec since the provincial Liberal government adopted emergency legislation May 19 that criminalizes the more than three-month-old student strike and places sweeping restrictions on the right to demonstrate.

The mass arrests are testimony both to the depth of popular opposition to Bill 78 and to the determination of Canada’s ruling class to stamp out the student strike and run roughshod over all opposition to its class-war agenda of wage and job cuts and the dismantling of public services.

Last Tuesday, the 100th day of the student strike, more than 150,000 people marched through the streets of Montreal in one of the largest demonstrations in Quebec history. Protests against Bill 78 and in defiance of its draconian provisions are now taking place nightly in many working-class neighbourhoods of Montreal, as well as in other cities across Quebec.

In response, the government has intensified its campaign of repression. Within hours of last Tuesday’s demonstration, Montreal police invoked Bill 78 to justify the violent dispersal of “illegal” demonstrators. The next evening, riot police in Montreal kettled—surrounded and aggressively pinned—a peaceful protest, arresting more than 500 people. Quebec City Police staged their own mass arrests that same evening, charging 170 people for the “crime” of demonstrating.

Bilderberg power masters meet in the US

RT News  Every time a Bilderberg Meeting takes place, important things happen. The last time they met in the US was an election year, 2008 – and the world got Obama. This year they’re back in the US: will they decide who the next president will be?
When in 2008 they gathered from June 5 to 8 in Chantilly, Virginia – just a stone’s throw from the Washington DC – Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were neck-in-neck in the battle for the Democratic Party’s presidential candidacy.

On June 5 of that year, Barack and Hillary mysteriously “disappeared” for some hours “somewhere in the DC area.”  Their agendas blocked out, they clearly sneaked off to “Meet the Bilderbergers.”
The media kept mum about that, save for an Associated Press report on the campaign trail saying that, “reporters traveling with Obama sensed something might be happening between the pair (i.e. Obama and Hillary) when they arrived at Dulles International Airport after an event in Northern Virginia and Obama was not aboard the airplane. Asked at the time about the Illinois Senator’s whereabouts, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs smiled and declined to comment.” (The AP dispatch “Obama and Clinton meet, discuss uniting Democrats” is, strangely, “no longer available” on their website).

L. Campbell: A Graduation recognition contest

The high school has adopted a new guideline for graduation. Rather than designate the top 10 students, the school is going with the cum laude designations. I was told that this is to give more students recognition rather than just the top 10.

The problem with that is that students who earn the cum laude awards get to vote on who they want to give graduation speeches. The young lady who has worked very hard for four years and is the valedictorian of her class wasn't voted to give a speech. (By the way, she is the only one who earned the magna cum laude designation).

CA CAFR shows $600 billion tax surplus, 1% criminals cover-up, demand austerity

Clint Richardson details California’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) to reveal $577 billion in Californian taxpayers’ investments. This public evidence makes Governor Brown’s claim of a ~$16 billion budget deficit with no option than “austerity” a criminal lie of omission. This is similar if the governor claimed the public checking account didn’t have enough money for our children’s schools while he covered-up a savings account with over 30 times the claimed shortage.

Clint notes on page 107 of California’s CAFR that the $6 billion annual interest cost and $164 billion in state debt are also cover-ups when contrasted with taxpayers’ investments. The criminal economic fraud of the 1% expands with cover-ups of the policy options to issue its own credit and money to directly pay for public goods and services.

Inspired by fruitful virtual protests against the SOPA and PIPA online piracy bills, Internet activists have united their forces and formed an organization to protect the web from “bad laws and monopolies.”

The idea of an Internet Defense League was first suggested by Tiffiniy Cheng, the head of the Fight for the Future nonprofit group. It has already been supported by activists and web companies who reach millions of Internet users, like Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of social news web-site Reddit, and Craig Newmark, founder of the free online classified network Craigslist.

"The Internet Blackout was just the beginning," wrote the league founders, who actively took part in January’s protests against SOPA and then PIPA bills. "Together, our websites and personal networks can mobilize the planet to defend the Internet from bad laws and monopolies. Are you in?"

Panetta Says U.S. Now Ready to Attack Iran

Kurt Nimmo
May 27, 2012
On Sunday U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said the United States is “ready from a military perspective’’ to attack Iran under the guise of preventing it from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Panetta makes his comment at 14:45.

Panetta’s comments arrive after the U.S. and members of the United Nations Security Council held talks in Baghdad on Iran’s supposed nuclear threat.

“I think it was a complete failure, in terms of content,” an Iranian diplomat told McClatchy on Friday. “The more they talk, the worse it gets.”

Despite Iran’s willingness to negotiate, a senior U.S. official has stated that harsher sanctions will be imposed on the Islamic Republic. The U.S. and Israel believe Iran is engaging in the talks – a third one will be held in Moscow next month – in order to buy time for its nuclear program.

celebrationalcohol Consume this Vital Nutrient to Protect Against Alcohol Induced Brain DamageAlcohol-induced damage is extremely prevalent in western society. With the consumption of excess alcohol comes numerous health problems including weight gain, digestive problems, cardiovascular problems, heart problems, various cancers and much more. Sitting near the top of the list, along with liver damage, is brain damage. Luckily, one study shows how acetyl-L-carnitine is a viable source for protecting the brain from damage caused by alcohol consumption.
The study found that high levels of unfriendly nitric oxide (iNOS) caused by an abundance of alcohol-induced toxins leads to free radical damage in the frontal cortex of the brain. The frontal cortex of the brain is a region that is greatly involved with dopamine nerve transmission. Damage to the neurons in this region lead to increased cravings and addictions, and also set the body up for future addiction-related issues.

Current US wars are not close to lawful: war law is the legal victory all of our families sacrificed to achieve through two world wars: no nation is allowed to use their military in armed attack unless under attack by another nation’s government.

Revealing: A list of keywords used by government analysts to scour the internet for evidence of threats to the U.S. has been released under the Freedom of Information Act

The Department of Homeland Security has been forced to release a list of keywords and phrases it uses to monitor social networking sites and online media for signs of terrorist or other threats against the U.S.

The intriguing the list includes obvious choices such as 'attack', 'Al Qaeda', 'terrorism' and 'dirty bomb' alongside dozens of seemingly innocent words like 'pork', 'cloud', 'team' and 'Mexico'.

Released under a freedom of information request, the information sheds new light on how government analysts are instructed to patrol the internet searching for domestic and external threats.

The words are included in the department's 2011 'Analyst's Desktop Binder' used by workers at their National Operations Center which instructs workers to identify 'media reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities

Miami Beach Police Deny They Have a 2,000 Person Arrest Quota for Memorial Day Weekend

(MIAMI NEW TIMES)   Are Miami Beach Police planning to arrest 2,000 people during the notorious Memorial Day weekend parties on South Beach? As in they’ve actually set a quota regardless of whether or not 2,000 deserve to be arrested. To put that in prospective, the record number of arrests over Memorial Day weekend ever in Miami Beach was just over 1,000.

Rumors of such a number emerged this week, but Police Chief Raymond Martinez has denied that his department has set a real quota.

According to Local 10, rumors of the quota first emerged in an email complaint from the police officers’ union that called the quota “aggressive, patently unfair, and unjust.”
Martinez denies that such a quota exists.

Ted Butler "CFTC Has Lied and Complicit with the Silver Manipulation." Also, U.S. Govt. will directly prop metal manipulation - no middleman?

If you have been a reader of Ted Butler for the last few years, you would know, he has believed that the CFTC would eventually do the right thing regarding the Silver manipulation of the price.

Ted Butler gave up yesterday on May 25th, 2012.  He wrote an article saying all the CFTC members need to resign and have accused them of lying and being complicit with the silver manipulation.

He has pushed people to write the CFTC members over the last few years, asking them to do the right thing.  He was part of the reason why they were investigating the Silver manipulation.  He would write how he believed Chilton on the CFTC board would be part of the solution in getting things fixed and the manipulation stopped.

Last month I wrote about how Bix Weir has accused the CFTC of being formed, just to hide the manipulation and part of making sure it keeps going.

Ontario students have pledged to take to the streets in solidarity with their protesting fellows in Montreal and other cities of Quebec. The students are defying emergency laws the authorities are imposing to curb down the wave of dissent.

Students in Quebec have been protesting for more than 100 days now, with violent clashes between police and protesters reported on several occasions. The latest demo on Wednesday night resulted in a police crackdown on demonstrators.

About 700 people were detained throughout the province, which pushed the total number of detentions over the months over 2,500. That is at least five times more than during the 1970 crisis, when martial law was declared in Quebec in response to the actions of radical nationalists.

The protest against the hike of tuition fees was mainly focused in the province’s largest city Montreal, but it is now spreading outside of Quebec. A group of students the neighboring province of Ontario pledged their support of the movement Friday.

Blatant Corruption Exposed as EU Blocks France’s Ban on Monsanto’s GMO Maize

Anthony Gucciardi
May 24, 2012
corruption 235x147 Blatant Corruption Exposed as EU Blocks Frances Ban on Monsantos GMO MaizeJust after France legislators and officials moved to ban Monsanto’s genetically modified strain of GMO maize over environmental and health concerns, the European Union has decided to step in and re-secure Monsanto’s presence in the country — against the very will of the nation itself. This should come as no surprise when considering the fact that the United States ambassador to France, a business partner to George W. Bush, stated back in 2007 that nations who did not accept Monsanto’s GMO crops will be ‘penalized’. In fact, ambassador Craig Stapleton went as far as to say that the nations should be threatened with military-styled trade wars.

That’s right, it appears the reason for the unprecedented move to maintain Monsanto’s deeply-rooted foothold in France has to do with the fact that the United States and other nations are continually pushing Monsanto’s agenda — even going as far as to threaten military-styled trade wars to those who oppose the company. Monsanto has major connections with political heads that have actually threatened trade wars against nations opposed to GMOs on record. As I reported back in January, WikiLeaks cables surfaced revealing and startling information concerning Monsanto’s deep involvement with back-end politics.

Anthony Swofford on the Epidemic of Military Suicides

All across America veterans are committing suicide at unprecedented rates, but no one has been able to answer why. Author and former marine Anthony Swofford gets to the bottom of an epidemic.

Daily Brew B.C. law requires animal disease outbreak reports be kept secret under threat of massive fines

We've all seen this TV scenario: Investigators are racing to track down the source of a deadly virus, or maybe a terrorist nuclear device, threatening a big city.

But they're keeping the publicity lid on because they don't want people to panic.
Well, a move by the B.C. government feels a little like that.

Freedom of information advocates are criticizing provisions of the province's new Animal Health Act which forbids anyone, including journalists, from reporting an animal disease outbreak

The last nail is being driven into the coffin of American republic

What Has America Become? Is This America?

  • 1

The last nail is being driven into the nail of the coffin of American republic yet Congress remains in total denial as our liberties are rapidly fading before our eyes.

The process is propelled by unwarranted fear and ignorance as to the true meaning of liberty.
It is driven by economic myths, fallacies and irrational good intentions.
The rule of law is constantly rejected and authoritarian answers are offered as panaceas for all our problems.
Runaway welfarism is used to benefit the rich at the expense of the middle class.
Who would have ever thought that the current generation and Congress would stand idly by and watch such a rapid disintegration of the American Republic?
Characteristic of this epic event is the casual acceptance by the people and political leaders of the unitary presidency, which is equivalent to granting dictatorial powers to the President.
Our Presidents can now, on their own:
  1. Order assassinations, including American citizens,
  2. Operate secret military tribunals,
  3. Engage in torture,
  4. Enforce indefinite imprisonment without due process,
  5. Order searches and seizures without proper warrants, gutting the 4th Amendment,
  6. Ignore the 60 day rule for reporting to the Congress the nature of any military operations as required by the War Power Resolution,
  7. Continue the Patriot Act abuses without oversight,
  8. Wage war at will,
  9. Treat all Americans as suspected terrorists at airports with TSA groping and nude x-raying.

Google Releases New Copyright Transparency Report

Parker Higgins

Today, Google expanded its transparency reports program today by releasing a detailed report of content removal requests from copyright holders. The new copyright report joins its semi-annual government takedown transparency report, and covers more than 95% of the copyright takedown requests it has received for Search results since July 2011.1

Though Google has posted the content of takedown requests to Chilling Effects where possible before, this report presents the data collectively (and graphically) for the first time.

Striking is the sheer volume of takedown notices Google receives: in just the last month, it processed over 1.2 million requests for Search alone, from 1,296 copyright owners and 1,087 reporting organizations. That scale allows it to present trends in the data that might not otherwise be apparent. For example, even in the case of notorious "pirate" sites like The Pirate Bay, Google has received takedown notices for less than 5% of their indexable pages.

Probiotics Can Actually Make You More Attractive

Anthony Gucciardi
May 24, 2012
yogurt berries 235x147 Probiotics Can Actually Make You More AttractiveThe evidence continues to mount that a healthy lifestyle is a fundamental key to becoming more attractive and overall good looking. In the past it has been observed that simply eating fruit and vegetables can make you more attractive, and now it is being reported that beneficial bacteria — known as probiotics — can do the same. Better yet, the effects are a result of the health-boosting impact that are associated with probiotic intake. That means a reduction in body fat, improved skin tone, and enhanced overall health.  The study is very exciting, as it shows just how deep of a role nutrition plays — even in your appearance.
