L. Campbell: A Graduation recognition contest
L. Campbell: A Graduation recognition contest
Laura Campbell
The problem with that is that students who earn the cum laude awards get to vote on who they want to give graduation speeches. The young lady who has worked very hard for four years and is the valedictorian of her class wasn't voted to give a speech. (By the way, she is the only one who earned the magna cum laude designation).

CA CAFR shows $600 billion tax surplus, 1% criminals cover-up, demand austerity
Clint Richardson details California’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) to reveal $577 billion in Californian taxpayers’ investments. This public evidence makes Governor Brown’s claim of a ~$16 billion budget deficit with no option than “austerity” a criminal lie of omission. This is similar if the governor claimed the public checking account didn’t have enough money for our children’s schools while he covered-up a savings account with over 30 times the claimed shortage.
Clint notes on page 107 of California’s CAFR that the $6 billion annual interest cost and $164 billion in state debt are also cover-ups when contrasted with taxpayers’ investments. The criminal economic fraud of the 1% expands with cover-ups of the policy options to issue its own credit and money to directly pay for public goods and services.

E-Batmen to the rescue: Craigslist, Reddit onboard Internet Defense League
The group is likening itself to the Internet version of a "bat signal”.
Image from internetdefenseleague.org
Inspired by fruitful virtual protests against the SOPA and PIPA online piracy bills, Internet activists have united their forces and formed an organization to protect the web from “bad laws and monopolies.”
The idea of an Internet Defense League was first suggested by Tiffiniy Cheng, the head of the Fight for the Future nonprofit group. It has already been supported by activists and web companies who reach millions of Internet users, like Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of social news web-site Reddit, and Craig Newmark, founder of the free online classified network Craigslist.
"The Internet Blackout was just the beginning," wrote the league founders, who actively took part in January’s protests against SOPA and then PIPA bills. "Together, our websites and personal networks can mobilize the planet to defend the Internet from bad laws and monopolies. Are you in?"

Panetta Says U.S. Now Ready to Attack Iran
Kurt Nimmo
Prison Planet.com
May 27, 2012
On Sunday U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said the United States is “ready from a military perspective’’ to attack Iran under the guise of preventing it from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Panetta makes his comment at 14:45.
Panetta’s comments arrive after the U.S. and members of the United Nations Security Council held talks in Baghdad on Iran’s supposed nuclear threat.
“I think it was a complete failure, in terms of content,” an Iranian diplomat told McClatchy on Friday. “The more they talk, the worse it gets.”
Despite Iran’s willingness to negotiate, a senior U.S. official has stated that harsher sanctions will be imposed on the Islamic Republic. The U.S. and Israel believe Iran is engaging in the talks – a third one will be held in Moscow next month – in order to buy time for its nuclear program.

Consume this Vital Nutrient to Protect Against Alcohol-Induced Brain Damage
Mike Barrett
NaturalSociety
May 27, 2012
Alcohol-induced
damage is extremely prevalent in western society. With the consumption
of excess alcohol comes numerous health problems including weight gain,
digestive problems, cardiovascular problems, heart problems, various
cancers and much more. Sitting near the top of the list, along with
liver damage, is brain damage. Luckily, one study shows how acetyl-L-carnitine is a viable source for protecting the brain from damage caused by alcohol consumption.
The study found that high levels of unfriendly nitric oxide (iNOS) caused by an abundance of alcohol-induced toxins leads to free radical damage in the frontal cortex of the brain. The frontal cortex of the brain is a region that is greatly involved with dopamine nerve transmission. Damage to the neurons in this region lead to increased cravings and addictions, and also set the body up for future addiction-related issues.

TV Networks Say You're Breaking The Law When You Skip Commercials
EFF
Television networks are having a busy month trying to stamp out new TV-watching technology, including telling a court that skipping a commercial while watching a recorded show is illegal. Yesterday, Fox, NBC, and CBS all sued Dish Network over its digital video recorder with automatic commercial-skipping. The same networks, plus ABC, Univision, and PBS, are gearing up for a May 30 hearing in their cases against Aereo, a New York startup bringing local broadcast TV to the Internet.

Memorial Day: 1% mock US military with unlawful wars; arrests are when?
The 1% mock America’s war dead on every Memorial Day because
they continuously damn more US soldiers to kill and die in unlawful
wars.
This is an insult to our military past and present, and their families. Because an unlawful war is a literal attack upon US soldiers, it is also treason by the 1% upon American military.
Current US wars are not close to lawful: war law is the legal victory all of our families sacrificed to achieve through two world wars: no nation is allowed to use their military in armed attack unless under attack by another nation’s government.

Joke of the Day
DEMOCRAT: You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. You feel guilty for
being successful. You vote people into office that put a tax on your
cows, forcing you to sell one to raise money to pay the tax. The people
you voted for then take the tax money, buy a cow and give it to your
neighbor. You feel righteous. Barbara Streisand sings for you.
REPUBLICAN: You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So? ......It's not your fault he didn't stay in school. Never-the-less, ultimately you take pity on your neighbor and see that his children have milk, while you encourage him to accept responsibility for his situation and to work hard to acquire his own cows.
SOCIALIST: You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor. You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his cow.
COMMUNIST: You have two cows. The government seizes both and provides you with milk. You wait in line for hours to get it. It is expensive and sour.
BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. The government takes them both, shoots one, milks the other, pays you for the milk, and then pours the milk down the drain.

Australians Face Huge Fines For Speaking Ill Of New Carbon Tax
Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
Friday, May 25, 2012
Praised by Barack Obama as a model for the world,
Australia’s highly unpopular carbon tax, set to take effect from July
1st, is set to be policed by laws which forbid business owners from
criticizing it for causing price rises – with thought criminals who do
so under threat of being hit with huge fines of over $1 million dollars.

“SHOPS and restaurants could face fines up to $1.1
million if waiters or sales staff wrongly blame the carbon tax for price
rises or exaggerate the impact,” reports the Daily Telegraph.
According to ACCC deputy chairman Dr Michael Schaper,
the warning applies, “to comments made by staff over the phone, on the
shop floor or in meetings. It also covers advertising, product labels,
websites, invoices, contracts and contract negotiations.”
Revealed: Hundreds of words to avoid using online if you don't want the government spying on you (and they include 'pork', 'cloud' and 'Mexico')
- Department of Homeland Security forced to release list following freedom of information request
- Agency insists it only looks for evidence of genuine threats to the U.S. and not for signs of general dissent
Revealing: A list of keywords used by government
analysts to scour the internet for evidence of threats to the U.S. has
been released under the Freedom of Information Act
The intriguing the list includes obvious choices such as 'attack', 'Al Qaeda', 'terrorism' and 'dirty bomb' alongside dozens of seemingly innocent words like 'pork', 'cloud', 'team' and 'Mexico'.
Released under a freedom of information request, the information sheds new light on how government analysts are instructed to patrol the internet searching for domestic and external threats.
The words are included in the department's 2011 'Analyst's Desktop Binder' used by workers at their National Operations Center which instructs workers to identify 'media reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities

The media’s limitations and manipulations
By Ziad El-Hady 26 May 2012
Ziad El-Hady looks at how government, elite and corporate interests shape media reports of international and domestic events, trivializing and sensationalizing news, corrupting our understanding of the world and reinforcing prejudice and bigotry.
All social, political and economic policies and debates are communicated through our media. Therefore, the breadth of our democratic experience is defined largely by the structure of the media and its content. This in itself may not be an immediate cause for panic but when viewed together with the centralization of corporate media ownership, the picture becomes a lot more worrying. If a handful of companies control the vast majority of what we see, hear and read daily, then the breadth of our information and democratic experience becomes considerably restricted.

Miami Beach Police Deny They Have a 2,000 Person Arrest Quota for Memorial Day Weekend
Rumors of such a number emerged this week, but Police Chief Raymond Martinez has denied that his department has set a real quota.

Ted Butler "CFTC Has Lied and Complicit with the Silver Manipulation." Also, U.S. Govt. will directly prop metal manipulation - no middleman?
If you have been a reader of Ted Butler for the last few years, you would know, he has believed that the CFTC would eventually do the right thing regarding the Silver manipulation of the price.
Ted Butler gave up yesterday on May 25th, 2012. He wrote an article saying all the CFTC members need to resign and have accused them of lying and being complicit with the silver manipulation.
He has pushed people to write the CFTC members over the last few years, asking them to do the right thing. He was part of the reason why they were investigating the Silver manipulation. He would write how he believed Chilton on the CFTC board would be part of the solution in getting things fixed and the manipulation stopped.
Last month I wrote about how Bix Weir has accused the CFTC of being formed, just to hide the manipulation and part of making sure it keeps going.

Canada protest spreads as arrest list hits 2,500 benchmark
Students stage a protest against tuition fee increases on May 25, 2012 in Montreal. (AFP Photo / Rogerio Barbosa)
Ontario students have pledged to take to the streets in solidarity with their protesting fellows in Montreal and other cities of Quebec. The students are defying emergency laws the authorities are imposing to curb down the wave of dissent.
Students in Quebec have been protesting for more than 100 days now, with violent clashes between police and protesters reported on several occasions. The latest demo on Wednesday night resulted in a police crackdown on demonstrators.
About 700 people were detained throughout the province, which pushed the total number of detentions over the months over 2,500. That is at least five times more than during the 1970 crisis, when martial law was declared in Quebec in response to the actions of radical nationalists.
The protest against the hike of tuition fees was mainly focused in the province’s largest city Montreal, but it is now spreading outside of Quebec. A group of students the neighboring province of Ontario pledged their support of the movement Friday.

Blatant Corruption Exposed as EU Blocks France’s Ban on Monsanto’s GMO Maize
Anthony Gucciardi
NaturalSociety
May 24, 2012
Just
after France legislators and officials moved to ban Monsanto’s
genetically modified strain of GMO maize over environmental and health
concerns, the European Union has decided to step in and re-secure
Monsanto’s presence in the country — against the very will of the nation
itself. This should come as no surprise when considering the fact that the
United States ambassador to France, a business partner to George W.
Bush, stated back in 2007 that nations who did not accept Monsanto’s GMO
crops will be ‘penalized’. In fact, ambassador Craig Stapleton went as far as to say that the nations should be threatened with military-styled trade wars.
That’s right, it appears the reason for the unprecedented move to maintain Monsanto’s deeply-rooted foothold in France has to do with the fact that the United States and other nations are continually pushing Monsanto’s agenda — even going as far as to threaten military-styled trade wars to those who oppose the company. Monsanto has major connections with political heads that have actually threatened trade wars against nations opposed to GMOs on record. As I reported back in January, WikiLeaks cables surfaced revealing and startling information concerning Monsanto’s deep involvement with back-end politics.

The last nail is being driven into the coffin of American republic

The last nail is being driven into the nail of the coffin of American republic yet Congress remains in total denial as our liberties are rapidly fading before our eyes.
The process is propelled by unwarranted fear and ignorance as to the true meaning of liberty. It is driven by economic myths, fallacies and irrational good intentions.
The rule of law is constantly rejected and authoritarian answers are offered as panaceas for all our problems.
Runaway welfarism is used to benefit the rich at the expense of the middle class.
Who would have ever thought that the current generation and Congress would stand idly by and watch such a rapid disintegration of the American Republic?
Characteristic of this epic event is the casual acceptance by the people and political leaders of the unitary presidency, which is equivalent to granting dictatorial powers to the President.
Our Presidents can now, on their own:
- Order assassinations, including American citizens,
- Operate secret military tribunals,
- Engage in torture,
- Enforce indefinite imprisonment without due process,
- Order searches and seizures without proper warrants, gutting the 4th Amendment,
- Ignore the 60 day rule for reporting to the Congress the nature of any military operations as required by the War Power Resolution,
- Continue the Patriot Act abuses without oversight,
- Wage war at will,
- Treat all Americans as suspected terrorists at airports with TSA groping and nude x-raying.

Google Releases New Copyright Transparency Report
EFF
Today, Google expanded its transparency reports program today by releasing a detailed report of content removal requests from copyright holders. The new copyright report joins its semi-annual government takedown transparency report, and covers more than 95% of the copyright takedown requests it has received for Search results since July 2011.1
Though Google has posted the content of takedown requests to Chilling Effects where possible before, this report presents the data collectively (and graphically) for the first time.
Striking is the sheer volume of takedown notices Google receives: in just the last month, it processed over 1.2 million requests for Search alone, from 1,296 copyright owners and 1,087 reporting organizations. That scale allows it to present trends in the data that might not otherwise be apparent. For example, even in the case of notorious "pirate" sites like The Pirate Bay, Google has received takedown notices for less than 5% of their indexable pages.

The latest TEPCO estimates of the amount of radioactive fallout released from the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan since the March 11th disaster now puts the level of Cesium 137 released into to the atmosphere 4.23 times higher than the amount released from Chernobyl.According to the data, Fukushima is estimated to have released of 360,000 terabecquerels (1 tera is 1 trillion) of radioactive Cesium 137 into the atmosphere compared to the release of 85,000 terabecquerels of Cesium 137 during the Chernobyl accident.
This figure also only includes the amount of cesium released into the atmosphere and does not consider the amount released into water.

RECAP SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING – MAY 22ND
Last night’s special town council meeting was a very special night for a very special lady. JoAnn Campbell received the “Spirit of American Foundation Tribute” award and very deservedly so. Mrs. Campbell volunteer’s a vast majority of her time to the town of Lisbon. There is no way in the world I could list all of the volunteer work she does. The lists of her accomplishments were outlined during the ceremony but I could not write fast enough to record them. This lady is involved with almost every aspect of this town. Mrs. Campbell truly deserves this award for all she does of the community. Hats off to JoAnn Campbell!!!!!
The council adopted the 17 articles of the school budget by a 7-0 vote on everything. This included the warrant for the school budget validation referendum. The council also approved the bid for the Town Annual Report to be published by the Walsh Printing. The council reduced the number of copies to 350 instead of the normal 500 because there were 144 copies still in the vault from the last ones published. After the initial posting of these reports, I never saw any on display so I can understand why there were so many left over. I cannot understand why they did not remain on the counter, wall or on display throughout the year.
Next the council moved into a workshop on the municipal budget. I stayed for about an hour of the workshop and then left. The main problem is the council is still discussing the 2% pay raise the people at the Public Hearing unanimously were against. However, Councilor Bowie is still bringing this subject up and the council had a lengthy discussion which ended with Mrs. Fitzgerald, a member of the Advisory Board, walking out. Apparently, Bowie and a few members of the council have decided to ignore the desires of the people of Lisbon in the same manner as they ignore recommendations by the Advisory Board.
Councilors Ward and Lunt would like to see improvements to local roads but instead there is a plan on the table to place $50,000.00 in an account and let it accumulate until there is enough to actually start repairing out local roads. There were several other objections made from councilors but nothing was resolved while I was there. It got to the point where the discussions were no longer productive so I left.
There is still too much money in the municipal budget which could be either cut or utilized in more productive places. One of the main ones is Professional Development. The town is asking for approximately $55,925.00 for training of our town employees. I am baffled as to why we need so much training for our town employees who are receiving so many awards for the job they are performing. This money could be better utilized to repair roads or utilize the money for capital improvements. There is no return on investment for Professional Development.
No decision has been made on the final outcome for the municipal budget so there is no telling how much our taxes are going to go up. Rest assured taxes are going to rise.
Vote them out in November.

Lisbon Councils Dirty Little Tricks.
I have noticed a pattern developing with respect to the way Lisbon Council attempts to manipulate the public meetings and control any dissenting views .
The May 15th Council Meeting was a good case in point. The Councilors used character assassination as a way of directing attention away from Mr. Fillmore's questions. What they were so ardently trying to avoid was letting the public know that the Council had screwed up.
This dirty little trick is just one of many in the Councils Arsenal. The following are a few examples of manipulation commonly used to control the public and our ability to speak and gather the information necessary to make an educated decision.
- When the Council has a topic that generates a lot of dissent they will intentionally use a venue that is too small in order to control the number and comfort of dissenters.
- One of the most despicable control attempts is the use of Armed Police at or near the speaking podium. The implications made are obvious to all.
- I have seen Councilors skillfully employ the technique “Poisoning The Well” especially before Mr. Fillmore speaks. This is used to mitigate the effect of his message.
- Delay , Delay and more delay: This is one of their all time favorites. Do you remember how the council handled the question about letting the public vote on the municipal side of the budget. We still don’t have the vote.
- Do you remember last year when the Council shut down unlimited free speech at the Council meetings? This was done by imposing strict rules severely limiting public input to a couple minutes at the beginning of each meeting. It is difficult to disagree with the Councilors it you cant speak.
- Tapes of Meetings mysteriously disappear when the material on the tape has the potential of embarrassing the Council.
- At May 22nd meeting a new tactic emerged. A Councilor gave a private citizen of Lisbon an implicit threat of a law suit. She implied that it could be considered harassment if a private citizen (Mr. Fillmore) kept bringing up that her (public official) household was breaking the traffic laws of Lisbon.
Her argument wasn’t whether she was guilty or not, (she said that anything over 11,000 lbs. could be considered overweight) she was upset because this infraction was being brought to the publics attention.
The residents of Lisbon have a right to know the truth about local government. We should not be manipulated and treated like little children. Please treat us with the respect due all human beings.
If you make a mistake, own it. We don’t expect you to be infallible. And above all don’t lie to us.
Respectfully
Joe Hill

IQ Foods: Processed Food Lowers IQ in Children, Nutritious Food Raises It
NaturalSociety
May 23, 2012
Processed foods are the staple of far too many diets, particularly in the United States where 105 million people have either diabetes or prediabetes. These processed foods are filled with white sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, aspartame,
artificial food colorings, and a wide variety of other toxic
substances. Interestingly enough, research shows that these are some of
the worst IQ foods. Given the makeup of
processed foods, is it any wonder that children are suffering from IQ
reduction upon introducing these foods into their diet?IQ Foods: The Findings

Alleged Voter Fraud, Corruption, and Assault Against Ron Paul Supporters at Arizona GOP Convention
theintelhub.com
May 22, 2012
Editors Note: Below is a first hand report from the Arizona GOP convention.
On May 12, 2012, after being elected as an alternate delegate in Mohave County Arizona, I attended the GOP Convention in Phoenix Arizona.
The GOP laid out no clear rules as to how the day would. The so-called GOP leadership was blatantly focused around their preselected candidate Mitt Romney and not on making the process fair and understandable to newcomers.
There was an asterisk endorsing Romney supporters on the actual ballot which threw off the entire voting. I spent 24 hours awake on this trip due to their gross incompetence. It was craziness.
The security was hostile. They welcomed us by forcing us to remove hundreds of Ron Paul signs.
Security called the deputies to be sure all Ron Paul signs were out of the building. That’s right, what i saw was the violation of freedom of speech, oppression suppression, and coercion by the GOP, all in the name of supporting the establishment candidate, Mitt Romney.
The GOP clearly lacks leadership and has lost the true nature of a Conservative is with their outright contempt for the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and our basic freedoms and liberties which our forefathers fought for and people die for.
The censorship makes me physically ill as I write. I feel like I am living in a fascist nation.

Bilderberg 2012 List Of Participants Revealed?
theintelhub.com
May 22, 2012
Here is a list of Bilderberg Participants 2012 floating around on the web. I was unable to trace back the source to this list, so I have no idea if it is accurate.
What stands out from this particular list is a plethora of Obama administration officials and American business kingpins. Also a formidable delegation from Spain, Italy and- significantly: Turkey (as a non-EU member Turkey is doing stunningly well. Is Bilderberg trying to sweet talk the Turks into joining?).
Another curious lapse seems to be the absence of David Rockefeller’s name on the list- a lapse you wouldn’t expect in a fake list.
List:
Honorary President:
BEL Davignon, Etienne Vice President, Suez-Tractebel
NLD Halberstadt, Victor Professor of Economics, Leiden University;
Ex- Honorary Secretary NLD Hommen, Jan H.M. President, ING Group

G20 Storm-Troopers and Commanders Charged in Toronto
theintelhub.com
May 22, 2012
It appears that justice may be served in Toronto after all – even 2 years later. An investigation of the G20 in Toronto is expected to produce charges against a “handful” of senior police commanders.
An excerpt from the article posted on CBC/Radio-Canada on May 17th reads;
“A handful of senior Toronto police commanders are expected to be charged in coming weeks for a variety of misconduct offences over their leadership at the G20 summit in June 2010, CBC News has learned.
The charges are in addition to 28 front-line officers slated to have disciplinary hearings for a range of misconduct offences, including unlawful arrests and use of excessive or unnecessary force against prisoners.

The cost of downloading: Supreme Court says $675,000 fine remains for sharing 30 songs

A 29-year-old Rhode Island man is expected to pay $675,000 for the unauthorized downloading of 30 songs after the Supreme Court said on Monday that they will not weigh in on one of the record industry’s longest-running copyright infringement cases.
Joel Tenenbaum of Providence, RI will now go back to court to continue his fight against a penalty that a District Court judge once called “unconstitutionally” excessive.
Tenenbaum was hit with a $675,000 fine — $22,500 per song — after the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) took him to court over copyright infringement in 2009 and won their case. Following that decision, Nancy Gertner of United States District Court in Boston shot down the jury-determined penalty and reduced it by 90 percent, but not without the RIAA appealing and winning once more, reinstating the original fine.
The following from "what really happened"
In Massachusetts, the company Power Fasteners knowingly sold inadequate adhesives to the Big Dig project with the result that a concrete block fell from the ceiling of the Boston's Fort Point Channel Tunnel onto a commuter car, killing Milena Del Valle. Power Fasteners was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. The fine was $1000. So, according to the court system, a copied music file is worth 22 times the life of a human being.

Ron Paul's Electability

“I’ve been electable,” Paul told CBS News. “I’ve won 12 elections already, and we’re doing quite well now. It’s amazing that I do so much better than those other candidates that are all electable. They’re all in fourth, fifth and sixth place, but they’re all electable, but I come in second or third, and all of the sudden people say, ‘Oh, he’s not electable.’ I don’t know how that adds up.”Jon Stewart, host of the The Daily Show, best exposes mainstream media's blatant refusal to acknowledge Ron Paul as viable candidate in the GOP presidential race. "Ron Paul's the real deal." he asserts.

It arrived with little fanfare yet somehow it has managed to survive for 25 years. Most people have never read it. These are the same people who today are asking questions about what went wrong with America. These are the same people who today find that their plans for the future, no matter how hard they have worked to make those plans a reality, have vanished into thin air. These are the same people who are working 3 jobs to keep what one job secured for them 20 years ago.......These people are you and I, the working middle class, the "We the People."
The book is titled None Dare Call It Conspiracy, and was authored by Gary Allen with Larry Abraham. It was considered very controversial 23 years ago. In retrospect it appears to have been a blueprint for the future of America. That America is perhaps where we are all living today.

President Obama Had Another Embarrassing Close Call In The Arkansas Primary
At least this closer-than-expected call was to a living, breathing person.
Hours after President Barack Obama lost 40 percent of the vote in Kentucky to "Uncommitted," Democratic challenger and human being John Wolfe gave him another contest in Arkansas, in what has become a recurring theme the past two weeks in Appalachia. The Associated Press called Arkansas for Obama around 11:20 p.m. ET on Tuesday, nearly three hours after the polls closed there.

Scientists Discover Natural Celery Ingredient Apigenin Can Halt Breast Cancer
Anthony Gucciardi
NaturalSociety
May 22, 2012
The
answer to halting the growth of an aggressive form of a breast cancer
may be found in your kitchen pantry or local farmers market, according
to new scientific research. Putting millions of dollars worth of funding
into the breast cancer drug industry to shame, researchers recently
unveiled amazing new research that shows an ingredient known as apigenin
— found in celery and other produce — is a cheap way of stopping breast
cancer in its tracks. The sad part? The researchers even admit in their write-up that it will be virtually impossible to receive funding for further research because the pharmaceutical companies cannot profit from it!
That’s right, the scientists actually come out and say that due to the convenient and inexpensive nature of this cancer-fighting substance, big pharma cannot make any money off of it. As a result, the research will most likely be halted. Could it be any more apparent that these corporations are not interested in curing any disease? It is no wonder that cancer drugs have actually been found to kill patients more quickly than cancer itself, and are astronomically overpriced. In a telling statement, study co-author Salmon Hyder writes
