Since early 2011, there has been a lot of information circulating regarding Monsanto’s purported purchasing of the natural health food store known as Whole Foods; topics like ‘Monsanto buys whole foods‘ and others quickly became hot search terms. Interestingly enough, Monsanto was also rumored to have bought Blackwater (Xe), a private military company. While it is understandable that Monsanto would buy or at least work with Blackwater (as they are both in the same corrupt business), who would believe that Monsanto could scoop up Whole Foods? In actuality, the biotechnology giant did not buy Blackwater, and did not buy Whole Foods. Here are the details.

Lisbon's Golden Hour

The Golden Hour

In emergency medicine, the golden hour refers to a time period lasting from a few minutes to several hours following  a traumatic injury.  How a patient is treated in the golden hour very often dictates the patients degree of recovery or in some cases whether they live or die.

This added minute or two may not seem long to you, but I assure you if you can’t breath and are desperately waiting for the paramedic that minute will seem like forever.

Lisbon has been presented with an opportunity to decrease the response time in  that critical golden hour.  The only question is will Lisbon take advantage of this opportunity or will they stubbornly insist we keep our duplicate dispatch function and  refuse to improve and modernize.

If we couple Mr. Fellows recent 10% across the board budget cut with the elimination of the Lisbon duplicate dispatch function, we could give Lisbon taxpayers their first real tax cut in years.   This is a real “Win Win”  situation.

I hope the Town Councilors will allow Lisbon residents the benefit of better response times and a much needed tax cut.

Don’t believe the “Smoke and Mirrors” act from Lisbon Council and Chief Brooks,  the County Commissioners didn’t.

Go to Google and type in “H.R. 4133.” You will discover that, apart from a handful of blogs and alternative news sites, not a single mainstream medium has reported the story of a congressional bill that might well have major impact on the conduct of United States foreign policy.

H.R. 4133, the United States-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act of 2012, was introduced into the House of Representatives of the 112th Congress on March 5 “to express the sense of Congress regarding the United States-Israel strategic relationship, to direct the president to submit to Congress reports on United States actions to enhance this relationship and to assist in the defense of Israel, and for other purposes.” The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) reportedly helped draft the bill, and its co-sponsors include Republicans Eric Cantor and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Democrats Howard Berman and Steny Hoyer. Hoyer is the Democratic whip in the House of Representatives, where Cantor is majority leader. Ros-Lehtinen heads the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Ron Paul has won 32 of Minnesota’s 40 Delegates at the state GOP convention but because he is not an establishment sock puppet it is just a side note.

Meanwhile, we can be rest assured that the corporate media will continue to lie to the public to display their fake delegate counts and rub it in our face while they do so to manufacture consent for Romney.

Instead, they will continue to portray Ron Paul as have quitting the campaign with having no chance of winning.

The truth is Ron Paul has already won enough states to secure his slot at the Republican National Convention where he can still win the Republican nomination .

Given his limited campaign funds – due to the fact he will not accept money from the corporations, special interest groups and lobbyists that have destroyed our nation and eroded our Constitution -  there is no need for him to go into debt and spending money he doesn’t have in additional states.
This is just more evidence that he is a man of morals and lives by the words he speaks unlike other politicians who speak off fiscal responsibility but don’t exercise the same in their own campaigns.

WHO SHOULD PAY

On this years list of local roads to be repaired there are five roads in Huston Park.  These roads are:  Huston Street, East Avenue, Wing Street, Cross Street and Scottsdale Avenue.  These five are the only roads listed to be repaired in Huston Park.  The common factor with all of these roads is they are utilized by tractor trailers to enter and exit Huston Park daily.

The local road are not designed or constructed to with stand constant excessive weight.  These tractor trailers travel these local roads with heavy load of material on their trailers.  This excessive weight has to be the cause of damage to these roads.  It is not rocket sciences that of all the roads in Huston Parks ONLY these roads need repair.  Also, Scottsdale Avenue was just repaired a few years ago because the sewer/water infrastructure failed.

So this brings up the question, who should be paying for the repair of these roads?  It is very apparent this is NOT normal wear and tear that has destroyed these roads so why should the taxpayers foot the bill.  There are two or three of these tractor trailers utilizing these local roads daily so why is the town requiring the taxpayers to pay for the repair of these roads?

The bigger question is why these vehicles are allowed to operate in Huston Park or on any local road in the first place.  The town Planning Board should have imposed a city ordinance to protect these local roads by prohibiting the daily use of these vehicles on all local roads.  I understand there will be some exceptions such as moving vans and deliver trucks.  However, there is a legitimate need for the Planning Board to protect our local roads.

Why should the taxpayers of Lisbon be forced to pay for road repairs caused by individuals who choose to operate a business out of their residence?

The New Hampshire House of Representatives voted to ban UN Agenda 21 polices.

This legislation will prevent local, county and state governments from adopting the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) programs.

ICLEI is a UN agency that provides “local” community plans, software and training to towns and cities that pay their dues. Other private organizations in league with ICLEI are:

• National League of Cities
• International City/County Management Group
• National Governors Association
• American Planning Group

Congressmen Seek To Lift Propaganda Ban

An amendment that would legalize the use of propaganda on American audiences is being inserted into the latest defense authorization bill, BuzzFeed has learned.

The amendment would “strike the current ban on domestic dissemination” of propaganda material produced by the State Department and the Pentagon, according to the summary of the law at the House Rules Committee's official website.

The tweak to the bill would essentially neutralize two previous acts—the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 and Foreign Relations Authorization Act in 1987—that had been passed to protect U.S. audiences from our own government’s misinformation campaigns.

Chinese Physicists Reportedly Break Teleportation Record

Star Trek fans, rejoice! Teleportation is real. Using powerful lasers and optics to manipulate photons, or units of light, researchers in China set a record for teleporting a photon more than 10 miles (16 km), TIME reported in 2010. Now a different team of physicists at the University of Science and Technology of China in Shanghai says it has shattered that record, claiming to have sent a photon more than 60 miles (97 km).

Quantum teleportation, which has been around since 1997, is a little different than what you see in sci-fi movies. Considered “one of the holy grails of practical quantum communication,” as the scientists write in their abstract, teleportation is the ability to essentially move one object from one place to another without traversing the space in between. But as Forbes explains, the actual object is not moving from point A to point B. Once again the War on Drugs threatens the fundamental rights of ordinary Americans.

Despite protections afforded under the U.S. Constitution, the federal DEA is trying to initiate a blanket sweep of all license plates traveling along Interstate 15 in Utah, with the intent to store the information in a centralized database.

Furthermore, as noted by the ACLU which attended a recent hearing about the rollout, this federal agency is employing a scanning technology called ALPR to collect data from "unspecified other sources and sharing it with over ten thousand law enforcement agencies around the nation."

Lisbon Belittles Private Citizen at Public Meeting

Mrs. Maloy’s stellar performance at last Tuesdays Council Meeting is still reverberating within the borders of Lisbon.

I personally have heard more comments from people utterly disgusted with this travesty than from any other Council event in recent history. Many people, especially women, are  really embarrassed by Mrs. Maloy’s use of the gender card.

This repulsion seems to span several normally polarized groups. Both lovers and skeptics of Mr Filmores views are solidly opposed to the  planned  character assignation that took place at Lisbon’s public podium.

The following remarks are just a few of the snippets  I have heard in the last week.

•     A phone call I received stated: “It tells me that the Council only wants to hear from us if we agree with them. You wont catch me up there.You know we are paying her more than $50,000 to do this?”

•     A  lady at the dump said “If what I heard is true she should be fired”.

•     A man at a class I take said:  “I thought the council operating rules forbid that kind of stuff.”

•     Another person reminded me that, she (Maloy) is in charge of our towns creative accounting system  and we shouldn’t be surprised with her coverup efforts.

I could go on and on with the comments but for brevities sake I will just tell you what  I feel is probably the most astute remark of all. An older gentleman that was at the Council Meeting said,  “She talked for 5 min. and didn’t answer his (Mr. Filmores) question,   Do we have less money in the account than we are supposed to have? I think  she was trying to skirt that question.”
 
With all the anger and confusion surrounding her speech the only thing that I am sure of is  Mrs. Maloy’s  reputation took a big hit Tuesday night .She shouldn’t have used this tactic to avoid answering a legitimate questions by a concerned private citizen.

At the very least Mrs. Maloy owes Mr. Filmore a public apology.

According to an interview with National Lawyers Guild (NLG) spokesman Kris Hermes, Chicago police officers raided a Bridgeport apartment complex on Wednesday evening without a valid warrant and detained up to nine people without cause.

The NLG is working in Chicago this week sending monitors to protests at the NATO Summit 2012 to insure activists rights are not violated. They are also functioning as lawyers for anyone detained during the week's activities.

The NLG worked through the night to locate the arrested activists. They were unable to get any information from the Chicago Police Department (CPD) or even any acknowledgement that a raid had taken place.

In a series of preemptive raids to crackdown on planned protests of the NATO summit in Chicago activists are being held in jail without charge.

The National Lawyer’s Guild reports that activists planning to protest the NATO summit in Chicago this weekend, where a martial law red-zone has officially been declared around the Chicago loop,  have simply disappeared without a warrant or charges.

According to Truth-out, at least 20 activists have been rounded up and thrown in jail in a series of preemptive raids conducted to crackdown on planned protests.

A series of events in the last two weeks have set the stage for how surveillance drones will be operated by local law enforcement in the United States and how citizens can demand privacy protections as domestic use escalates. As EFF has previously reported, Congress passed a bill in February mandating the FAA must open national airspace to drones, despite the extensive and unprecedented civil liberties dangers they pose to every American.

The FAA, in new rules announced on Monday, made the authorization procedure easier, stating they have “streamlined the process” for “public agencies”—which includes local law enforcement—to legally operate drones in U.S. skies. We know that dozens of law enforcement agencies already have drones, based on information from EFF’s Freedom of Information Act lawsuit over the FAA’s initial refusal to release the list of authorizations. And one of the biggest cities with a police department on the list was Seattle.

CHICAGO (CBS)–Nurses from Chicago and across the country held a contained, peaceful rally Friday at Daley Plaza over the initial concerns of city officials who are hosting this weekend’s NATO summit.

The protest, which drew an estimated 1,000 people, was organized by National Nurses United, which wants NATO to pay more attention to health care needs around the world.

It was festive from the beginning, with record music and dancing, CBS 2’s Jim Williams reports. Just after noon, a series of speeches ridiculed President Obama’s decision to move the G8 summit from Chicago to Camp David.

LEWISTON — Androscoggin County commissioners ended a decade of debate Wednesday, voting 2-1 to maintain the ability to answer emergency calls and dispatch help in a county-run communications center.

All three commissioners — Beth Bell, Elaine Makas and Chairman Randall Greenwood — argued that citizens are safer when both jobs are done at a central communications hub.

Together, they rejected a plan by the town of Lisbon that would have closed the county's communication center, sent its dispatching to the Lisbon center and sent the call-answering function to one of the state's Public Safety Answering Points, known as PSAPs.

The plan, based on savings forecasts by officials in Lisbon, was widely endorsed by the county's small towns, including Greene, Sabattus and Durham.

Lisbon Town Council Chairman Fern Larochelle called it "a heck of a plan."

"It was a plan that not only saved the other communities money, but also, for the first time, showed savings for Lewiston-Auburn over a long period of time," Larochelle said.

Commissioners said they didn't agree with Lisbon's numbers and worried about the transfer of calls it would create.

Police want right to tase Pregnant Women for not signing traffic ticket

Thanks to a misbegotten ruling from a divided Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, police in nine states have been left at an insurmountable disadvantage when dealing with criminal suspects. At least, that’s what we’re told in a legal brief submitted to the Supreme Court by a coalition of police unions. 

“It won’t be long before the word spreads through society’s criminal underworld that the Ninth Circuit hasn’t simply given them a `get out of jail free’ card, but a `never have to go to jail in the first place’ card,” warns the amicus brief. Rather than subduing criminals, “police officers will now be forced to walk away from people they have arrested.”

The ruling that is fraught with such awful implications, Brooks v. City of Seattle, involved a patently unnecessary Taser attack upon a woman who was seven months pregnant. The unarmed woman, who was not suspected of a violent crime, posed no threat to the three – yes, three – valiant officers who assaulted her. She was uncooperative, but did not offer any violent resistance. 

Her sole “offense” was to refuse a demand that she sign a traffic ticket that was eventually dismissed.

RECAP TOWN COUNCIL MEETING – MAY 15TH

I wish to start this article off by apologizing to the readers for the delay in getting this recap out to you.  This is a very difficult article for me to write and I will explain as we go along.  This meeting has no real significant events on the agenda but did have some interesting events.

I brought out during Audience Participation about the fact the council had voted on two motions at the last town council meeting (May 1st) pertaining to the Lisbon Communication Center.  These two motions were not part of the Agenda Documentation and therefore there was no Audience Participation on this subject.  However, there should be no motions voted on without the citizens of Lisbon having the opportunity to provide input.  To complicate the issue even more there was no video of Chief Brooks’ presentation or the motions for the Public to review.

During the Audience Participation Response, Chairman LaRochelle commented about the council trying to do what is best for the town of Lisbon.  I have always maintained these councilors are only receiving half of the information on every significant issue.  Eldridge, Brooks and Bowie ensure the information provided to the council is their slanted portion of the issue.  All of the facts are never presented to the council so these councilors vote on just the information they have been told and therefore these decisions are based on half facts tainted one way instead of reviewing all the facts prior to any vote.

Chairman LaRochelle then stated the Financial Director would respond to questions pertaining to the budget I had previously asked.  Mrs. Maloy proceeded to give me a tongue lashing about comments I had about not being able to receive two numbers the same from the town.  This is why this is difficult for me to response to since Jessica and my oldest daughter went to school together and the families are close.  I have, on numerous occasions, explained to Jessica I had no problems with her or her department.  I have always thought of Jessica Maloy as a friend.  I fully understand the tough situation she was placed in by the response Eldridge and Bowie gave her upon completion of her reading this script.  It was very clear who was behind this. 

It is and always will be the towns’ position to attack the character of any individual who challenges their authority.   Look at the attack on Councilor Cote by Chief Brooks several years ago.  Also, this tongue lashing never addressed the real issue I had asked.  Was the Undesignated Account under the 12.5 percentage balance?  I noticed Bowie mentioned moving the $8,200.00 previously taken from this account to pay for the demolishing of the building at 3 Village Street around.  The questions still remains unanswered.  The fact the ordinance states “strives” is a legal term to keep individuals from being prosecuted.  Section D states “This policy has been adopted by the town to recognize the financial importance of a stable and sufficient level of the undesignated fund balance. However, the town, reserves the right to appropriate funds from the undesignated fund balance for emergencies and other requirements the town believes to be in the best interest of the town.”  Remember in 2008 when Eldridge took over there was over three (3) millions dollars in this account and now it is at $1,184,499.00 as of June 30, 2011.  The only time this account is checked in during the yearly audit.

Mrs. Maloy has always conducted herself as a professional and I respect her and her staff.  I hope Jessica and I can remain friends and put this behind us.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has a status update for Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin: Stop attempting to dodge your taxes by renouncing your U.S. citizenship or never come to back to the U.S. again.

In September 2011, Saverin relinquished his U.S. citizenship before the company announced its planned initial public offering of stock, which will debut this week. The move was likely a financial one, as he owns an estimated 4 percent of Facebook and stands to make $4 billion when the company goes public. Saverin would reap the benefit of tax savings by becoming a permanent resident of Singapore, which levies no capital gains taxes.

Charges Dismissed As Video Catches NYPD Lying At First #OWS Trial

This case could have been a slam dunk for the NYPD, had it not been for one thing: the video showing police claims of disorderly conduct during an OWS protest to be completely untrue.

The NYPD has been caught repeatedly lying about the reasons for arresting and assaulting Occupy Wall Street protestors as well as violating numerous constitutional rights.

It is sad to see that some Americans condone such acts of police state fascism just because they don’t agree with the political views of the victims but in court the first Occupier to stand trial was vindicated of the false accusations brought before him by the police.

During the trial, the NYPD lied under oath, claiming that photographer Alexander Arbuckle was subject to a brutal arrest for blocking traffic.

The the defense shows a video of the entire incident which proved not only were the police lying, but it was NYPD were the only people blocking traffic and hence framed the arrested protestors.

Money is being pulled out of Greek banks at an alarming rate, and if something dramatic is not done quickly Greek banks are going to start dropping like flies. As I detailed yesterday, people do not want to be stuck with euros in Greek banks when Greece leaves the euro and converts back to the drachma. The fear is that all existing euros in Greek banks would be converted over to drachmas which would then rapidly lose value after the transition. So right now euros are being pulled out of Greek banks at a staggering pace. According to MSNBC, Greeks withdrew $894 million from Greek banks on Monday alone and a similar amount was withdrawn on Tuesday. But this is just an acceleration of a trend that has been going on for a couple of years.

 It has been reported that approximately a third of all Greek bank deposits were withdrawn between January 2010 and March 2012. So where has all of the cash for these withdrawals been coming from? Well, the European Central Bank has been providing liquidity for Greek banks, but on Tuesday it was reported that the ECB is going to stop providing liquidity to some Greek banks.

Last Nights Town Council Meeting

Several trusted persons have told me last nights Town Council Meeting was quite an interesting event.

It was reported that the Town Council in their wisdom decided to take ten minutes of their valuable time to have a Department Head deliver a castigating 10 minute written speech berating one of Lisbon’s taxpayers.

The reported reason for this tongue lashing was “he had the gall to ask questions about the financial condition of our town.”

Two of the ladies present were especially disturbed at the use of the gender card by this female Department Head  ($50,000 yr. +).  They said she was an insult to all the hard working women trying to make their mark in the business world.

It will be interesting to see if the tape from this meeting verifies the reported remarks. Lets hope this tape recorded properly.

A team of US researchers in California have used viruses to build tiny devices that gather energy from mechanical forces and convert it into electricity.

Ancient lost kingdom discovered beneath volcanic ash in Indonesia

Archaeologists have discovered ancient houses as well as precious artifacts and jewels from a buried kingdom, beneath the volcanic ash in Indonesia.

The excavated remains were found on the Indonesian island of Sumbawa near the foot of the Tambora volcano known for its largest eruption in recorded history.

"Based on the unearthed remains, particularly the many bronze objects and jewels, evidence suggests the site was once inhabited by the wealthy or elite who had grown prosperous through trade," said a member of the investigative team and a PhD candidate with Bristol University in UK Emma Johnston.

Dr. Mike's is located on Main Street in Lisbon Falls just north of the famous Kennebec Fruit Company.  There is usually ample on street parking close to Dr. Mikes Entrance, but If needed there is a large municipal lot across the street next to the post office.

Mike’s is a modern replica of a “50‘s diner”.  The look of this gathering place brings many of us back to our youth. The only thing missing is the scratchy sound of the Jute Boxes and  bobby sock waitresses.

The menu at Mikes has plenty of choices, from your favorite comfort foods to a couple less traditional vegetarian burger choices.

A big part of the charm of Dr. Mikes is Dr. Mike himself.  It is obvious  he likes people and good food. If you have a  chance to get in a conversation with the good Dr. ask him  about  the books he has authored. You may find the person behind the restaurant.

Mississippi Cops Warn Drivers About Stopping for Homicidal Fake Cop

Authorities in three counties in Mississippi are saturating highways in an attempt to hunt down a suspect that may be posing as a police officer and pulling people over before shooting them. (ABC News)

Mississippi authorities are urging drivers to be wary when being pulled over by a police officer after two people were shot and killed by someone police think could be posing as a cop to get motorists to stop.

"We urge everyone to be cautious while driving, especially at night," the Tate County Sheriff's Office posted on their Facebook page. "If someone attempts to pull you over with flashing lights and you feel unsure of stopping, DON'T PULL OVER. Use your cell phone and dial 911 and if it's a real officer then the dispatcher will confirm it for you and if it's not a real officer they will send help to you."
