GOP Controlled Virginia Legislature Passes Two Of The Most Restrictive Anti-Abortion Bills In The Nation

February 14, 2012
By
On Tuesday, the Virginia House of Representatives passed two of the most restrictive abortion bills in the country. By a vote of 66-32, the Republican majority passed House Bill 1, which defines personhood as beginning at conception and effectively bans any woman from having an abortion, even if she is raped. The bill also would restrict contraceptives and an amendment to the bill would allow civil lawsuits against any doctor that performs an abortion. The bill is by far the most restrictive bill passed by any Republican controlled legislature in many years. Republican Rep. Bob Marshall wrote the legislation.

A second bill was also passed that forces women to undergo a transvaginal ultrasound, which is a serious violation of the body, before being able to get an abortion. Of course if House Bill 1 passes the Senate as it is expected to, women won’t be able to get an abortion at all.

Cadmium Exposure Could Be Damaging Children’s Health more than Lead

educationchild 210x131 Cadmium Exposure Could Be Damaging Childrens Health more than LeadRecent research shows that cadmium could very well be more dangerous to children’s health than lead. While heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, and mercury are often the first to pop up when discussing or thinking about heavy metals and human health, cadmium remains the lesser mentioned metal compromising the health of many — especially children. Current and future research will likely continue to make the dangers of cadmium more well known.

] Video shows US-led warplanes drop cluster bombs in Afghanistan

Tue Feb 14, 2012 5:36AM GMT
New footage has emerged showing US-led warplanes dropping cluster bombs in war-torn Afghanistan, Press TVreports.

The US-led forces have used cluster munitions since their invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. The bombings have caused huge loss of life and property damage.

Apart from the civilians who fall victim to such bombs during the raids, other people continue to be killed by bomblets that do not detonate upon impact.

International rights groups have often called for a global moratorium on the use of cluster bombs, citing the large number of civilian casualties. They argue that unexploded bomblets also remain a deadly hazard.

5,000 homeless Americans live in tent cities

Wed Feb 15, 2012 1:12AM GMT

It is estimated that at least 5,000 individuals today call "tent cities" their home. These makeshift, and unhealthy, settlements have sprung up in more than 50 cities, including Portland, Oregon; Lakewood, New Jersey; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Pinellas Park, Florida; and Bakersfield, California.

Some of the tent cities house a few dozen, while others provide shelter for as many as 300. Many are supported by local churches while others face eviction because of safety code violations.

The conditions of the encampment in Ann Arbor have been described as "unhygienic. There are no toilets and electricity is only available in the one communal tent where the campers huddle around a wood stove for warmth in the heart of winter," according to the BBC News. Maine Election Fraud - Eyewitness Testimony

"I'm not sure how acurate the announced count is in reality. My town had 4 votes: 2 Santorum, 1 Romney and 1 other (that was me). Yet the tally in the state news release shows only 3 votes: 2 Santorum, 1 Romney and claimsthere were zero other. And I know for fact the state got our total because I was the one who called it into Michelle from the caucus. I wonder how accurate these counts were for other towns, based on the evidence of the announced tally for my town." #19

Nuclear Reactor Temperature at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi Plant Rises to 179.6°F

The Intel Hub
February 14, 2012
TOKYO (BNO NEWS) — The bottom of one of the reactors at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in eastern Japan rose to 82 degrees Celsius (179.6 degrees Fahrenheit) on Sunday afternoon, the Tokyo Electric Power Co. (Tepco) said on Monday.

According to Tepco, the safety equipment at the No. 2 reactor of the nuclear plant showed that the temperature had reached about 82 degrees Celsius (179.6 degrees Fahrenheit) at 2:15 p.m. local time on Sunday. The temperature has been increasing gradually since February 2, less than two months after the company announced a cold shutdown.

Japanese Supreme Court issues landmark decision on citizen juries

By

TOKYO (majirox news) — A landmark decision on the validity of verdicts by a citizen jury will have a far reaching impact on the Japanese criminal justice system. A unanimous decision on Feb. 13 by all five justices of the Japanese Supreme Court upholding the validity of verdicts reached by citizen juries has greatly strengthened their standing, particularly against appeal to non-jury trials, whose power it now strictly limits.

The Supreme Court ruled for the first time that barring an obvious misapplication of the law, the verdict of citizens’ juries must be respected. This places strong limitations on the increasingly common practice of government prosecutors appealing cases to non-jury courts when they are dissatisfied with a verdict.
On Feb. 13, the Supreme Court refused to recognize the verdict of a non-jury court to which the verdict of a citizen’s jury had been appealed. It particularly noted, “Experienced prosecutors have the necessity (when appealing) to bring out specific, concrete points where there has been a misapplication of the law. It could find none in this case.”

Active Duty Troops to March on White House

One thousand veterans and active duty troops will shatter the corporate media hoax that insists members of the American military do not support Ron Paul due to his opposition to the unconstitutional forever war agenda of the establishment.

Despite this myth, the New York Times was obliged to admit reality last December, even if the admission wasn’t featured on the front page of the newspaper but instead posted on a remote area of its website.
“Representative Ron Paul, the congressman who favors the most minimalist American combat role of any major presidential candidate and who said all of the above quotes, has more financial support from active duty members of the service than any other politician,” Timothy Egan wrote.

                             WE NEED YOUR HELP

The Rockin’ “T” Equine Rescue is owned and operated by Janet and Andy Tuttle since 1996 right here in Lisbon on Edgecomb Road.  What is it you ask?  It is a rescue shelter for all abused animals.  It started out as only a rescue shelter for horses but over the years has developed into an abused shelter from all animals.  These animals come from the State, Animal Control Officers and are even purchased at times in order to save these animals.  Currently, at this facility are 29 horses, 15 chickens, 1 lama, 1 Emu, 2 donkeys, 3 goats, 1 goose, 7 dogs and 3 cats.  These animals require a lot of attention every day of the week.  There are no days off for Janet and Andy Tuttle.  Fortunately, Warren Goddard has volunteered his time and assists the Tuttle’s every day.  The Tuttle’s have other volunteers who help when they can.   As you can tell this is quite an operation but the Tuttle’s love for animals makes this worthwhile.

The Rockin’ “T” Equine Rescue is a non-profit organization under the provisions of 501©(3) IRS tax codes; who needs our assistance.  An undertaking of this size is very costly and this is where the residents of Lisbon and the State of Maine can help.  There are two ways people can assist.  The first one is to logon to www.bangor.com/cmm which is a web site for the Bangor Savings Bank which has a contest going where the Bangor Savings Bank is giving back to the communities of Maine.  All you have to do is logon to the web site; click on the box which reads “Cast Your Vote Today”; scroll down to the section for “Portland/Lewiston-Auburn” and click on a write in box and enter Rockin’ “T” Equine Rescue.  THIS COST YOU NOTHING MORE THAN A FEW MINUTE OF YOUR TIME!  According to the information I have received 68 grants will be award.  The top vote-getting organization in each region, including write-ins, will receive $5,000.  The remaining 60 organization will each receive $1,000.  Any amount of money received will go a long way to feed, shelter and caring for these animals.

The second way is through tax free donations under the provisions of the 501©(3) of the IRS tax codes.  You simple login to the rescue web site and follow the instructions provide.  This web site is www.rockintequinerescue.com I completely understand that times are hard right now and every penny counts but this also applies to these animals.  If there are any organizations which would like to adopt the rescue farm or volunteer their time would be greatly appreciated.  REMEMBER ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  There are no donations too small and every bit helpsl!!!!!!

If there are any questions or concerns you have or even want to donate your time, please do not hesitate to contract Janet or Andy Tuttle at 353-6581.

Mind Control --- Controlling Weapons with Your Mind

2012 02 09
By Ian Sample | guardian.co.uk
Neuroscience breakthroughs could be harnessed by military and law enforcers, says Royal Society report

Soldiers could have their minds plugged directly into weapons systems, undergo brain scans during recruitment and take courses of neural stimulation to boost their learning, if the armed forces embrace the latest developments in neuroscience to hone the performance of their troops.

These scenarios are described in a report into the military and law enforcement uses of neuroscience, published on Tuesday, which also highlights a raft of legal and ethical concerns that innovations in the field may bring.

Acta protests: Thousands take to streets across Europe

Protesters at Acta protest in central London Marchers in London gathered outside British Music House, home to several major rights holders

Thousands of people have taken part in co-ordinated protests across Europe in opposition to a controversial anti-piracy agreement. Significant marches were held in Germany, Poland and the Netherlands against the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (Acta).

Around 200 protesters gathered in central London outside the offices of rights holder representative groups.
Demonstrators argued that Acta will limit freedom of speech online.

However the agreement's supporters insist it will not alter existing laws, and will instead provide protection for content creators in the face of increasing levels of online piracy.

The treaty has to date been signed by 22 EU members, including the UK, but has yet to be ratified by the European Parliament. A debate is due to take place in June.

Home Sperm Test Kit

SpermCheck Fertility, a male fertility test, is set to hit drugstores in April. (Amazon)
A home sperm test is set to join dozens of female fertility predictors on drug store shelves this spring.
Walgreen's and CVS are already selling the sperm-counting kit, called  SpermCheck Fertility, online. Now they're banking on men - and their mates - favoring a quick pick-up at the drug store over a trip to the urologist.

"There is nothing like it on the shelf," Maeve Egner of Fusion Marketing, the company hired to help market SpermCheck,  told Bloomberg. "It's plugging a gap."

Studies have found that SpermCheck Fertility correctly counted sperm 96 percent of the time compared with laboratory sperm- counting methods. But some doctors say sperm count is only one aspect of male fertility.

Monsanto Found Guilty of Chemical Poisoning in France - Ill bet you wont see this on the nightly news.

14th February 2012
By Anthony Gucciardi
Contributing Writer for Wake Up World
In a major victory for public health and what will hopefully lead to other nations taking action, a French court decided today that GMO crops monster Monsanto is guilty of chemically poisoning a French farmer. The grain grower, Paul Francois, says he developed neurological problems such as memory loss and headaches after being exposed to Monsanto’s Lasso weedkiller back in 2004. The monumental case paves the way for legal action against Monsanto’s Roundup and other harmful herbicides and pesticides made by other manufacturers.

In a ruling given by a court in Lyon (southeast France), Francois says that Monsanto failed to provide proper warnings on the product label. The court ordered an expert opinion to determine the sum of the damages, and to verify the link between Lasso and the reported illnesses. The case is extremely important, as previous legal action taken against Monsanto by farmers has failed due to the challenge of properly linking pesticide exposure with the experienced side effects.

Dissent Against the Government is as American as Apple Pie, It is Patriotic, and not a Mental Illness.Any Questions?

The people who are mentally ill are the people in the goverment. They are the people not in their right mind. People who are control freaks who hate their own lives and life itself. They cannot stand to see people happy or successful in life. They hate seeing love in the homes among families. They hate innocence and purity. They want to control our lives, I mean every facet of our lives. They cannot get a job picking up litter on the side of the road or at a McDonalds scrubbing toilets.

These are the people who cannot understand why people get mad when they grab people's genitals at the airport or question their authority. The do not like people resisting them and questioning what they do. The hate the fact people are buying guns. They do not understand how a farmer can get very upset when this government goons comes on their farm without his consent. In his goon's mind. that farmer should be happy because this goverment agent cares so much about him and only wants to help. The farmer just wants to be left alone. He does not want the government's help. He does not understand reality or human nature. He thinks people should be happy being felt up to keep them safe and not get angry. Well the government thinks we are all mentally ill or terrorist because we do not like what they are doing.

We now live in extraordinarily dangerous times in America. A majority of primary voters support three out of the four remaining Republican candidates for President who believe that the U.S. government may commit acts of aggression and start wars against foreign peoples who were of no threat to us, and who want to use the power of government and police to impose various social views onto others. Only Ron Paul wants to legalize freedom in America, and wants to end our government’s aggressions abroad.

In a recent article on LewRockwell.com, human rights advocate William Grigg highlighted an Iraq War veteran who can’t comprehend that people in foreign countries don’t like invaders and occupiers on their lands, and why they try to defend themselves, their families and their territories from the U.S. military aggressors.

Amid Sheriff-DofJ Warnings, Pullback on Grand Jury Investigation of IN Dairy Farmer; Raw Milk Freedom Riders Push Further on Interstate Milk Prohibition

The U.S. Justice Department has withdrawn its subpoena of Indiana raw dairy farmer David Hochstetler to appear before a federal grand jury.

He was scheduled to testify tomorrow in Detroit, in connection with an outbreak of illnesses linked by public health officials, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, to the milk of his Forest Grove Dairy. But yesterday he received a certified letter saying that his subpoena was being withdrawn.

Ross Goldstein, a U.S. Justice Department trial attorney, noted in the letter that Hochstetler had previously stated to him that Hochstetler wouldn't answer questions or produce documents based on his Fifth Amendment constitutional rights. "Based on your representation that Forest Grove Dairy is a sole proprietorship and that you refuse to produce any responsive documents based on the assertion of rights guaranteed by the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution against self incrimination, I write to advise you that you are released from the subpoena until further notice." He was advised to retain all documents in the case.

Sheriff Brad Rogers of Elkhart County, IndianaWhile it's not clear exactly what kind of maneuvering led to the federal pullback, one factor working for Hochstetler may have been the efforts of his county sheriff, Brad Rogers of Elkhart County. He wrote a letter  to the Justice Department warning it not to conduct inspections of Hochstetler's farm without a warrant from a local judge. In the process, he got into a debate over the limits of federal power and the U.S. Constitution with the Justice Department's Goldstein. State Sponsored Propaganda – BBC: Caught in the Act

The Intel Hub
By Stephen Lendman
February 13, 2012
On February 11, the London Independent headlined, “BBC to issue global apology for documentaries that broke rules,” saying:
“….(P)rograms were made by third-party in pay of governments and firms.”

In other words, they were propaganda, not legitimate news and information. More on the scandal below.
Throughout its history, BBC’s been an imperial tool. It replicates the worst of America’s major media, its NPR/PBS managed news operations, and Qatar controlled Al Jazeera on major world and national issues.
Reliability’s not its mandate. Owned, operated and controlled by Britain, government officials appoint its management. Nothing fundamentally changed from 1922 inception to today. Only technology’s different, not BBC’s state controlled message.

It’s pro-government, pro-imperial, pro-war, pro-Israel, pro-corporate, and anti-populist. Deception triumphs over truth. Step over the line and get fired.

CPAC Boss: Jeb Bush May Be Nominee at Brokered Convention

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
February 13, 2012
Is it possible Papa Bush, the head of the Bush crime family, will see another son in the Oval Office before he shuffles off the mortal coil?

Al Cardenas, head of the American Conservative Union, seems to think so. He told Mail Online that the former Florida governor would emerge as a “possible alternative” party nominee in a brokered convention at Tampa in August. Cardenas is overseeing this year’s CPAC shindig in Washington.

“We’ll know more in the next few weeks,” said Cardenas. “The pressure’s already been on Mitt Romney to close the sale… and he hasn’t.”

A brokered convention occurs when there are not enough delegates to win primary and caucus election majorities. Thomas Dewey was the last Republican Party brokered presidential nominee in 1948. FDR was the last brokered nominee to win the presidency in 1932. There have been many conventions that came close to being brokered – in 1968, 1976, 1984 and 1988 – but did not actually come to pass.

The list of 75 Senators who Voted To Let 30,000 Drones armed with Shotgun Tasers, Surveil Americans

Source: Senate.gov
Via:
Vid Rebel

The House and Senate voted for the passage of the FAA bill that funds 30,000 drones to surveil Americans knowing that the majority are to be armed initially with shotgun tasers. Two Americans a week die from tasers so these are lethal weapons. But these drones can easily be equipped with machine guns and rockets. I decided to only report the Senate vote because the bill included strong anti-union sections that forced House Democrats to vote against the overall bill. A quick glance of the Senate No votes revealed one staunch Zionist from a strong union state who probably would have voted for the bill if it were a stand alone measure without the union bashing.

Mossad chief sought info on Washington's reaction if Israel were to unilaterally strike Iran, 'Newsweek' reports.

US Air Force F-15E releases a GBU-28 Bunker Buster By REUTERS/Handout
In his recent meetings in Washington, DC Mossad chief Tamir Pardo aimed to discover how the US would react were Israel to unilaterally attack Iran's nuclear facilities, Newsweek reported Monday.
According to an unnamed source in the report, Pardo asked if the US was ready to bomb, and if not, "What does it mean if [Israel] does it anyway?"
The report also said "Israel has stopped sharing a significant amount of information with Washington regarding its own military preparations" over the Iran nuclear issue.

Senior intelligence officials and a military officer said that Israel stopped sharing significant information with the United States for about four months after US President Barack Obama called for the Green Line to be the basis of peace talks with Palestinians

Patricia A. Cook Dies In Culpeper Police Officer Involved Shooting In VA

Feb 13, 2012

Woman rolls up window during police stop, cop shoots her dead claiming his arm was stuck and she tried to drive away

An eyewitness to a fatal police shooting in Culpeper, Virginia is contradicting the State Police version of the story.

Kris Buchele says he saw a Culpeper Town Police officer shoot 54-year-old Patricia Cook to death in the Epiphany Catholic School parking lot.

Buchele is a carpenter who was working on the house next door. He says he heard loud arguing outside and looked through a window where he had a clear view of the school parking lot. Cook was in her Jeep Wrangler .

State police say Cook rolled up the window, catching the officer's arm inside, and then dragged him.

Buchele says it didn't happen that way. He describes an encounter which looked and sounded like the officer shooting a person a point blank range, not because he feared for his life, but because the woman did not obey his order to stop rolling up the window.

"He was right next to the vehicle. He had one hand on the door handle and one hand on his weapon. And she was rolling the window up. And they were exiting out of the parkng lot.

New Jersey Threatened with Mandatory Water Fluoridation

Despite objections from environmentalists and utility officials, New Jersey is under threat of mandatory fluoridation, which is the addition of fluoride chemicals into the public drinking water ostensibly to reduce tooth decay. Despite admission by the Federal Government that American children are fluoride over-exposed and that fluoride's benefits are primarily topical, New Jersey legislators are crafting a law that will force fluoridation on the entire state, reports the Fluoride Action Network (FAN).

“Since fluoride’s benefits are topical, it makes no sense to swallow fluoride and makes even less sense to put fluoride into drinking water when fluoridated toothpaste is available to everyone,” says Paul Connett, PhD, FAN Executive Director and co-author of the book, The Case Against Fluoride

Watch what you eat: Consuming 2,100 to 6,000 calories a day could trigger memory problems in elderly people, a new study has found (picture posed by models)
Overeating could more than double the risk of  memory loss among elderly people, a study has found.
Researchers discovered that those who consumed more than 2,100 calories a day were far more likely to have 'mild cognitive impairment' than those who ate less.
The findings suggest that keeping to a low-calorie diet in old age could keep the mind sharp – and may even prevent the onset of Alzheimer's disease.
Scientists in the U.S. looked at the eating and drinking habits of 1,200 people aged 70 to 89 who did not have dementia, and gave them memory tests.
They found that 163 had developed memory problems – and the risk was more than twice as high for those who consumed the most calories.

Go-ahead for world's first mobile euthanasia unit that will allow patients to die at home

  • Teams will end the lives of additional 1,000 a year
  • 2,700 Dutch people a year choose assisted suicide
By Simon Caldwell

The world’s first mobile team to administer euthanasia in patients’ homes will be launched next month.
Units will be dispatched when family doctors refuse to administer lethal drugs on ‘ethical’ grounds.
They are expected to send the number of euthanasia cases in Holland soaring, with pro-campaigners claiming they will end the lives of an additional 1,000 patients a year.
No way back: The units will euthanise patients by administering a strong sedative to put them in a coma, followed by a drug to stop them breathing

Officially, 2,700 Dutch people a year choose assisted suicide, but critics say the real figure is far higher.
The launch of the first unit, which will consist of at least a doctor and a nurse, was confirmed on Radio Netherlands by the country’s Right to Die Association.

Ron Paul Refuses to Concede Maine: Official

Business Wire
February 12, 2012
LAKE JACKSON, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Tonight the campaign of 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul sent an email to supporters regarding today’s caucus results from the state of Maine. See below for a portion of comments from Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Manager John Tate.

“Ron Paul will win the most delegates out of Maine tonight.
“In fact, he will probably even win the ‘beauty contest’ straw poll the media has already called for Mitt Romney – even before all the votes have been tallied.

“In Washington County – where Ron Paul was incredibly strong – the caucus was delayed until next week just so the votes wouldn’t be reported by the national media today.

“Of course, their excuse for the delay was ‘snow.’
Editors Note: They were forecasting a couple inches of snow in Washington County. For us here in Maine we don't even consider it snow unless its measured in feet.... The Girl Scouts held their meeting but the Republican caucus was cancelled..... Something fishy in Maine..... Ron Paul really won Maine.

In contrast you could make it known that you lack a healthy lifestyle, and as a result you will continue to live an unhealthy lifestyle. While this belief is held by many, a recent study has come out with even mainstream scientists proclaiming the very real power of thought.

Scientists Find Promoting Own Wellbeing Leads to Longevity

During the 70′s more than 8,000 individuals participated in a study where they self-rated their health and were given a medical checkup. Three decades later the participants were reassessed. While taking in risk factors such as tobacco, chronic diseases, and high blood pressure, the scientists found that the individuals who responded positively were more likely to outlive those who replied in the negative. In other words, positive thinking promotes healing and quality health

Needless Diabetes-Linked Antibiotic Prescriptions Cost NHS $10 Million Per Year

pillsmoney 210x131 Needless Diabetes Linked Antibiotic Prescriptions Cost NHS $10 Million Per YearAntibiotics are not only breeding illness among the population, but are also so vastly overprescribed that it is costing the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS) the equivalent of over 10 and a half million dollars per year. According to new research, doctors are dishing out more than 1.6 million unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions for common ailments such as sinusitis and acute coughs. The result: an unnecessary and massive financial hit.

Conducted by researchers from Cardiff University and led by Professor Chris Butler, the two-year study worked with 68 GP practices in Wales. Finding that antibiotics were needlessly given to patients without effect, doctors were provided data that could limit the massive prescription count. Given data regarding antibiotic prescribing methods and resistance data, the researchers concluded that even a 5.5% reduction in antibiotic prescribing could save over $1,000 per individual practice — and cut over 2 million dollars per year in worthless antibiotic prescriptions.

LEWISTON — A 911 call for help in Greene soon could be answered by a dispatcher in Skowhegan, Wiscasset or even Bangor.
In a bid to save money, Androscoggin County commissioners are contemplating closing the county's dispatch center in Auburn, which answers emergency calls from 12 towns.
If that happens, each of the dozen towns (Lewiston-Auburn has its own call center, on Minot Avenue in Auburn) may go shopping for an agency to help.
Town leaders and the heads of several communications centers say they are not overly worried about outsourcing the work.

Toxic Artificial Sweetener ‘Neotame’ May Be Lurking in Your Organic Food

Mike Barrett

February 10, 2012
poison1 210x131 Toxic Artificial Sweetener Neotame May Be Lurking in Your Organic FoodOften marketed as Equal and Nutrasweet, aspartame is a well known neurotoxic sweetener used in many food products. This cancer-causing artificial sweetener is threatening the health of populations worldwide and has even been found to be created using genetically modified bacteria. While most individuals know about aspartame and its dangers, there is another, lesser known sweetener in the food supply that many people don’t know about – Neotame.

Introduced by biotech giant Monsanto, Neotame was created as a new sweetener and flavor enhancer to be used in food products. On July 9, 2002, the United States Food and Drug Administration decided that Neotame’s safety and functionality made it available for consumption, thus resulting in its approval. What’s concerning is, while Neotame has a similar structure to aspartame, the chemicals used in its manufacturing process seem to make the sweetener even more toxic than aspartame.

Karachi rally condemns US policies

Holding placards and banners bearing anti-US slogans, activists of Pakistan Defense Council protest in Karachi on February 12, 2012.
Sun Feb 12, 2012 10:38PM GMT
Thousands have staged a demonstration in Pakistan’s most populous city of Karachi to condemn the US policies and its non-UN-sanctioned assassination drone strikes in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal belt.

Sunday’s rally was arranged by Defense of Pakistan Council, an alliance of 40 religious and political parties.

Speakers at the protest delivered hard-hitting speeches, urging the Pakistani government to cease its cooperation with Washington's so-called war on terror.

Marine killed by O.C. deputy outside school wasn't armed, sheriff says

Marine Sgt. Manuel Loggins Jr.
A Marine sergeant fatally shot by an Orange County Sheriff's deputy in a dark San Clemente high school parking lot this week was not armed and the incident doesn't appear to be alcohol- or drug-related, sheriff's officials said.
A sheriff's spokesman said the deputy feared for the safety of two young girls sitting in a parked car when he shot Marine Sgt. Manuel Loggins Jr. Tuesday. The shooting occurred as Loggins started to get into the SUV where his two daughters — ages 9 and 14 — were sitting, authorities said.
Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department, said the deputy was fearful that Loggins — who he said appeared to be acting irrationally — was about the drive off with the girls.
"The real threat that was perceived was the safety of the children," Amormino said.

"The deputy formed an opinion that he had a deep concern for the children, that he would not allow Mr. Loggins to drive away with the kids," Amormino said.
A former commanding officer said Loggins routinely went to the school during the early morning with his daughters to walk the track and read the Bible.

US police arrest 2 Occupy protesters in Oakland

Oakland police officers push back Occupy Oakland protestors as they move in to confiscate audio equipment that the protestors were using in front of Oakland City Hall on February 6, 2012 in Oakland, California.
Mon Feb 13, 2012 2:20AM GMT
The US police have detained two anti-corporatism protesters, who were staging a peaceful Occupy demonstration against police brutality in Oakland, California.

The arrests were made on Saturday night after a brief scuffle between police and a group of Occupy Oakland protesters.

The demonstrators were angry at the way police treated and detained a female driver.

This is the second Saturday night march since a running street battle between Occupy protesters and Oakland police that led to hundreds of arrests in late January.

Belgian battery can power 1,400 homes

Chemicals giant Solvay hailed Monday the successful entry into service in Flanders of what it said was the largest fuel cell of its type in the world.

A super-battery that produces enough electricity to power nearly 1,400 homes, the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell has been producing clean electricity at a "steady rate" for weeks at a SolVin plant part-owned by Germany's BASF in Antwerp, northern Dutch-speaking Belgium.

SolVin is a market leader in vinyl, or PVC production.

Cloud Tsunami Over Panama City Beach Florida

Cloud Tsunami Over Panama City Beach Florida
By Soren Dreier
A cloud tsunami hit Panama City Beach last sunday, causing considerable damage.
Helicopter pilot Mike Schaeffer was wrapping up a tour when he spotted this incredible weather phenomenon along the coast of Panama City Beach, Fl. on Sunday.

As soon as he landed, he alerted Panhandle Helicopter  owner JR Hott of the “cloud form waves,” and together they went up for a better view. They moved quickly knowing that it is only in very specific weather conditions that this beautiful effect occurs.

While the images appear non-threatening and peaceful, as an experienced pilot, Hott has been trained to treat all fog and clouds as if they are solid objects. He and Schaeffer were very careful approaching in the air to get a better view. Fortunately, because of the location of the condos, they were able to approach the cloud waves from the side and did not place themselves in the direct path of the fog.

Maine Caucus results – a vote of ‘No Confidence’

February 12, 2012. Augusta, Maine. For the third time in this young primary election season, there are cries of vote fraud concerning the way the Republican Party is handling its caucuses and primaries. This time, the setting was the Maine Caucus. With each County free to schedule their vote any time over a month-long period, some local caucuses were held last week, while the majority were held yesterday. More than 16 percent of Maine’s precincts will hold their caucuses in the coming days and weeks.
Or will they?

Those election watchers who closely followed the events of yesterday’s Maine Caucus have some serious and legitimate questions. With the types of answers emanating from Maine GOP officials this morning, those questions are now turning into allegations – allegations of election fraud.

The cries of foul play aren’t only coming from one campaign this time, as they did from the Santorum campaign in Iowa, the Gingrich campaign in South Carolina or the Paul campaign in Nevada. Instead, cries of fraud and outrage are surfacing from anyone who values free and fair elections and America’s system of democracy itself.

Here is how the events of the Maine Caucus unfolded:
  • In the days preceding the Saturday caucuses, a small handful of precincts held their votes early. The state GOP announced that the results of those precincts would be kept secret, so as not to influence the remaining precincts. Individual precinct results were leaked by various Precinct Captains and campaign representatives from multiple candidates. According to the leaks, Ron Paul had an impressive and early lead. Politico even quoted John Grooms, Newt Gingrich’s Maine campaign director saying, “I think Ron Paul is going to take it.”
  • Saturday, caucus day for most of Maine, national media outlets declare Mitt Romney the winner of the Maine Caucus only seconds after polls close and the instant the first results are reported. As more and more precinct results were released, reported or otherwise made available, they actually showed a neck and neck race between Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. Slowly moving from 15 percent of precincts reporting to 50 percent, the race appeared to be a dead heat.
  • By late evening Saturday night, it appeared that all votes had been counted and reported, except for the precincts whose caucuses are schedule in the coming days and the one that was postponed due to snow. Mitt Romney was declared the official winner, with Party officials claiming that the remaining votes aren’t enough to have any effect on the final results.
The results as of midnight Saturday:
83.7% reporting (502 of 600 precincts)
Mitt Romney – 2,190 (39.2%)
Ron Paul – 1,996 (35.7%)
Rick Santorum – 989 (17.7%)
Newt Gingrich – 349 (6.2%)
Other – 61 (1.1%)
  • Ron Paul supporters are frustrated and outraged yet again by the blatant electioneering being perpetrated by the nation’s media. Not only did they declare Mitt Romney the winner in the first minutes, they’re now calling the election over with a virtual tie and 16 percent of precincts yet to report. Paul backers remind us that it shouldn’t be any surprise. Take NBC and its empire of media outlets for example. The network is owned by General Electric – one of the largest Defense Dept contractors in the world. Their profits will be affected by tens of billions of dollars depending on which candidate, Romney or Paul, would become the next US President.
  • From midnight to dawn, Ron Paul supporters do the math on their own to arrive at the conclusion that not only is the caucus not over, but Ron Paul has a very good chance of actually winning. They explain:
83.7 percent of the vote cast is 5,585 votes. Mitt Romney leads Ron Paul by 194 votes. 16.3 percent of precincts outstanding amounts to 894 voters in 98 precincts still yet to vote. Ron Paul would only need to win by less than 2 votes per precinct to win, hardly an impossible feat for a candidate with the best ground game in the state and a week or more to motivate his troops.
  • Sunday morning, Maine voters wake up to the unofficial news that the Republican Party of Maine has announced it is cancelling all remaining caucuses. Almost immediately, news outlets begin changing their vote tracking and headlines. Instead of Mitt Romney being the winner of the Maine Caucus with 16 percent of the vote yet to report, he is now the winner with 100 percent reporting. Those 98 precincts, and the voters who make up their caucuses, will not be allowed to vote.

Information Overload

by Paul Balles

Six months ago, I wrote about Alvin Toffler’s book Future Shock, which looks at a world with “too much change in too short a period of time”.

In Toffler’s view, change overwhelms people, leaving them disconnected and suffering from “shattering stress and disorientation” –- or “future shocked”.

The majority of social problems are symptoms of future shock according to Toffler. From his discussion of the components we also suffer from “information overload”.

Journalist William J. Lynott explains that the brain has limits on how much information it can handle. Beyond that limit the brain becomes overloaded; thinking and reasoning become dulled, decision-making flawed and, in some cases, impossible.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum’s plans for America

By Lawrence Davidson 13 February 2012

Lawrence Davidson argues that Rick Santorum, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, represents “a dangerous, intolerant, noisy, in-your-face” trend in US politics and that if he and his followers are allowed to win, “the result will be ever greater divisiveness and decline at home, and war abroad”.

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination who is fast coming to the fore. He won the Republican primary in Iowa (albeit by only 34 votes) in early January and in February won the primaries in Colorado, Missouri and Minnesota. So, as the question goes, who is this guy?

Santorum is a self-styled "true conservative", right-wing, Christian fundamentalist of Catholic background. In 2005 Time Magazine called him "one of America’s 25 most influential evangelicals". That is still certainly true today. Santorum believes that religious values (at least his religious values) should play a large role in shaping government policies. For those not sure what this means, Santorum has a list of examples:

Rick Santorum the moralist

. Santorum wants "a blanket ban on abortions". The fact that the US had this very same prohibition up until 1973, and the result was black market abortions that killed not only foetuses by also lots of pregnant women, seems to have escaped the former senator.

Maine Caucus Results --- Something Fishy In Maine

Mitt Romney Wins Contest Barely ?????
By BETH FOUHY and STEVE PEOPLES 02/11/12 10:51 PM ET AP

Maine Caucus Results 2012
PORTLAND, Maine — Mitt Romney narrowly won Maine's Republican caucuses, state party officials announced Saturday, providing his campaign with a much-needed boost after three straight losses earlier this week. But the former Massachusetts governor won just a plurality of the Maine vote, suggesting he still has work to do to unite GOP voters behind his candidacy.

At a gathering in Portland, state Republican Chairman Charlie Webster announced Romney had won with 2,190 votes, or 39 percent, compared to 1,996 – about 36 percent – for Ron Paul, the only other candidate to aggressively compete in the state. Rick Santorum received 989 votes and Newt Gingrich won 349, but neither actively campaigned there. Other candidates drew 61 votes.

Editors Note: I was at the Lewiston Caucus (second largest city in Maine). Romney was so unpopular that his speaker was constantly heckled. It was very obvious that Ron Paul was the overwhelming favorite... My town went for Ron Paul 23 to 12. even Santorum was more popular than Romney. Officials admit that all votes wont be counted.   I  smell something very fishy in Maine.  Congratulations Dr. Paul, the Maine people know who really won!!!!!!!

CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR TAX DOLLARS

Below is a comparison of Department Head salaries between the thriving community of Skowhegan and the Town of Lisbon.  Can you tell why Lisbon’s taxes are so high or does a rock have to fall on your head?

Former Councilor Roger Cote has been preaching about the inflation of salaries and no one wanted to listen but here it is in black and white.   It is outrageous the cronyism and collusion going on with the Town Council and Town Manager.  In this economic crisis, it is a crime against the people of Lisbon to force them to pay these inflated salaries.

Look at all the businesses forced to close in Lisbon.  The combination of the economy and taxes are driving them away.  This unfortunate situation cannot be turned around until the people take charge of the spending in this town.  The facts are the Town of Lisbon has to cut these inflated salaries and to reduce spending in order to reduce taxes.  There is no other way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depressed Army reservist attacked by police force after calling for help

Saturday, February 11, 2012 by: J. D. Heyes
(NaturalNews) The military spends tens of thousands of man hours annually and no small amounts of money training its personnel to seek help for any feelings of hopelessness or depression they may experience. The Army, especially, focuses on this issue because the suicide rate among its members has hit new highs in the wake of a decade of war in two separate theaters involving multiple deployments for millions of soldiers. That concern has also spilled over into the Guard and Reserve as well, since the Army has had to tap both of those branches in order to meet its personnel obligations for Iraq and Afghanistan.

With that in mind, when one D.C.- area Army reservist reached out for help recently, he was instead surrounded by dozens of police officers who searched and allegedly vandalized his home - all without a warrant, according to his lawsuit.
