Romney would raise age for Social Security and Medicare in cost-cutting plan

WASHINGTON – Mitt Romney unveiled a sweeping budget-cutting plan today that would increase the eligibility age for Social Security and cap Medicaid payments to states.
Romney’s plan would also increase the eligibility age for Medicare and allow seniors to choose between the government-sponsored plan and private insurance.
The plan would cut at least $500 billion per year from the federal budget as of 2016 and dramatically shrink the government, pulling back funding from areas that Romney says the nation can no longer afford.

FDA Escalates War Against Amish Dairy Farmers

Kinzers PA – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) apparent war on Amish raw dairy farmers increased on December 6 when they filed a “motion for summary judgment,” with Pennsylvania judge Lawrence Stengler asking for a permanent injunction against dairy farmer Dan Allgyer to forbid him from selling fresh milk out of state. FDA regulation 21 CFR §1240.61 criminalizes any selling of milk intended to cross state lines.

If you dont want higher taxes next year ----Now Is The Time

NOW IS THE TIME

At the next Town Council meeting marks the beginning of the 2012-2013 Municipal Budget schedule.  See the draft schedule published by the town manager for the upcoming budget meetings and workshops below.  According to the last workshop, the town council is in favor of increasing your taxes this year by increasing spending.  Now is the time for everyone to get involved and let the council know how you feel about your taxes before it is too late.  Tuesday night at 7:00 PM at the town office building will be a discussion on the capital budget for the upcoming year.

We all remember two years ago when our taxes took a dramatic jump.  By the time residents realized it, it was too later.  Below is the draft schedule of meetings/workshops.  NOW IS THE TIME FOR CITIZENS TO GET OFF THE COUCH AND VOICE THEIR CONCERNS INSTEAD OF WAITING UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE!!!!
The Town Council has restricted the voice of the people to ONLY during Audience Participation of Town Council meetings.  This is the only time citizens have an opportunity to express their feelings or offer suggestions on the municipal budget.

This is a reminder, during workshops the public is NOT allowed to participate in any discussions.   However, at least you will learn which of the councilors are in favor of raising your taxes and which ones are trying to support the taxpayers.  This information will be critical in your decision come November 2012 when three councilors are up for reelection.

Obama Takes Money From Americans, Gives it to Israel and Brags About It!

by Bob Johnson

Speaking to a convention of Reform Jews on Friday, Barack Obama bragged openly about talking money from American tax payers and giving it to the terrorist Jewish state of Israel!
Obama said in his speech to the Jewish organization, the Union of Reform Judaism, “So America’s commitment — America’s commitment and my
obama reform judaism

commitment to Israel and Israel’s security is unshakeable. It is unshakeable. (Applause.)
“… it is hard to remember a time when the United States has given stronger support to Israel on its security. In fact, I am proud to say that no U.S. administration has done more in support of Israel’s security than ours. None. Don’t let anybody else tell you otherwise. It is a fact. (Applause.)
“I’m proud that even in these difficult times we’ve fought for and secured the most funding for Israel in history. I’m proud that we helped Israel develop a missile defense system that’s already protecting civilians from rocket attacks. (Applause.)”
He openly acknowledges that “even in these difficult times” he has managed to steal cash from Americans and give that stolen cash to Israel! You can tell by the repeated applause that his throng of Jewish supporters couldn’t be happier that Obama is putting Israel’s interest way ahead of America’s interests.

Vegas police: Officer fired 7 shots into unarmed Gulf War veteran's car

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police had a plan to end an hour-long standoff with an unarmed Gulf War veteran: One officer would fire a non-lethal beanbag shell at the window of the man's Cadillac, and another officer would follow-up with pepper spray to force the man from the car.
But that plan went awry when another officer fired a military-style assault rifle into the car, killing 43-year-old Stanley Lavon Gibson, police said Friday.
"Almost immediately after the beanbag round penetrated the rear passenger window, a second officer discharged seven rounds from an AR-15 rifle, striking and killing Gibson," police said.

Humanitarian Intervention? Female Protesters Brutally Beaten, Stripped in Egypt

There’ll be no NATO humanitarian intervention here.
The blog-o-sphere is boiling at the cruel beating of a female protester by Egyptian military police, who continued battling protesters in Tahrir Square on Sunday. The clashes, into their third day now, have left 10 people dead and hundreds injured. The video uploaded on YouTube Sunday reveals the extreme cruelty of the country’s law enforcers during the crackdown. The army soldiers in full riot gear have been savagely beating a seemingly unconscious female protester with big sticks, kicking her and stomping on her chest.

Willie Nelson -- "Occupy the Food System"

Occupy the Food System

By Willie Nelson, Reader Supported News
17 December 11
Thanks to the Occupy Wall Street movement, there's a deeper understanding about the power that corporations wield over the great majority of us. It's not just in the financial sector, but in all facets of our lives. The disparity between the top 1 percent and everyone else has been laid bare - there's no more denying that those at the top get their share at the expense of the 99 percent. Lobbyists, loopholes, tax breaks... how can ordinary folks expect a fair shake?
No one knows this better than family farmers, whose struggle to make a living on the land has gotten far more difficult since corporations came to dominate our farm and food system. We saw signs of it when Farm Aid started in 1985, but corporate control of our food system has since exploded.
From seed to plate, our food system is now even more concentrated than our banking system. Most economic sectors have concentration ratios hovering around 40 percent, meaning that the top four firms in the industry control 40 percent of the market. Anything beyond this level is considered "highly concentrated," where experts believe competition is severely threatened and market abuses are likely to occur.

112 People Arrested Across Europe in Crackdown on Child Porn

December 18, 2011
THE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS (BNO NEWS) — More than 110 people have been arrested across 22 European countries on suspicion of possessing child pornography, the European Police Office (EUROPOL) announced on Friday. More arrests are expected.
Officials said an investigation into a file-sharing program identified 269 suspects who allegedly possessed and shared child pornography. A total of 189 house searches have been conducted as of Friday, resulting in 112 arrests across 22 European countries.
Europol said the operation targeted those who shared the most extreme forms of video material, which includes babies and toddlers being sexually abused and raped.
“This is the latest major success in over 10 years of Europol supporting law enforcement agencies in Europe in their fight against child sex abuse online,” said Rob Wainwright, Director of Europol.

Crushing the Disinformation Surrounding Indefinite Detention of Americans Under the NDAA :

The Intel Hub
By Madison Ruppert
December 17, 2011
Today Glenn Greenwald, writing for Salon, published a piece which is required reading for anyone who has been keeping up with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Fiscal Year 2012, especially those of us who have been arguing with proponents of the bill and others who do not understand the detainee provisions therein.
I will be going over Greenwald’s points in this article, as they cannot be emphasized enough and are all based in the ugly reality we see unfolding before us, unlike the claims made by those contending that the bill does not allow indefinite detention of American citizens without charge or trial.
The indefinite detention sections, contained within the NDAA along with other strange sections like removing the ban on bestiality and sodomy for members of the armed forces, and Obama’s support for it has drawn intense criticism from some somewhat unlikely sources.

50 Economic Numbers From 2011 That Are Almost Too Crazy To Believe

Even though most Americans have become very frustrated with this economy, the reality is that the vast majority of them still have no idea just how bad our economic decline has been or how much trouble we are going to be in if we don't make dramatic changes immediately.  If we do not educate the American people about how deathly ill the U.S. economy has become, then they will just keep falling for the same old lies that our politicians keep telling them.  Just "tweaking" things here and there is not going to fix this economy.  We truly do need a fundamental change in direction.  America is consuming far more wealth than it is producing and our debt is absolutely exploding.  If we stay on this current path, an economic collapse is inevitable.  Hopefully the crazy economic numbers from 2011 that I have included in this article will be shocking enough to wake some people up.
At this time of the year, a lot of families get together, and in most homes the conversation usually gets around to politics at some point.  Hopefully many of you will use the list below as a tool to help you share the reality of the U.S. economic crisis with your family and friends.  If we all work together, hopefully we can get millions of people to wake up and realize that "business as usual" will result in a national economic apocalypse.
The following are 50 economic numbers from 2011 that are almost too crazy to believe....
#1 A staggering 48 percent of all Americans are either considered to be "low income" or are living in poverty.

Highly Toxic Mercury Present in Processed Foods, Yet FDA Does Nothing

Why has the FDA ignored the fact that mercury, an element that is highly toxic in all forms, was found in a large number of brand-name processed foods?

Specifically, the mercury content was found to be contained in high-fructose corn syrup, which also reportedly contains genetically modified ingredients.

Instead of addressing this major public health concern, the FDA is focusing their time on crushing beneficial supplements through ridiculous NDI regulations that threaten the entire infrastructure of the nutraceuticals industry.

My daughter’s Social Studies Assignment this week – She HAD to take a picture of what food we had in the Pantry, Freezer and Fridge along with a picture of her family!

December 9, 2011 by
(SHERRIE QUESTIONING ALL)   Proof  the Assignment page of Social Studies on her school’s website (you can see my name on the side)
My daughter is in middle school.  2 days ago she had a Social Studies assignment that she HAD TO DO!  She had no choice as she would get an F if she did not do the required assignment!
What was that assignment?
She had to take a picture of our food pantry and the food in it and she had to take a picture of our Freezer and Fridge with what amount of food we had, how much was spent on food per week and she had to bring in a picture of her family!
It really bothered me and I did not want her to do it, but she got upset and said she had to do it and that is was just for comparing to food people eat in other countries!
I allowed her to take the pictures and take a picture of her and I for the project.
Now, I have been thinking about it this morning with the information about the Federal Government going to the Mormon Food Pantry demanding a list of who has purchased bulk food.

Justice Department report blasts Seattle police

The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday will release the findings of its investigation into allegations of excessive use of force and biased policing by the Seattle Police Department.
Seattle Times staff reporters
A federal civil-rights investigation into the Seattle Police Department has found routine and widespread use of excessive force by officers, and city and police officials were told at a stormy Thursday night meeting that they must fix the problems or face a federal lawsuit, according to two sources.
The meeting, attended by Mayor Mike McGinn, Police Chief John Diaz, members of his command staff and others, ended in raised voices and bitter accusations by city and police officials, upset at the Justice Department's findings, the sources said. One source said the language in the agency's report, to be officially released Friday, is "astoundingly critical" of the department.

Japanese tsunami debris washes up on U.S. West Coast nine months after disaster (and there's 100 MILLION more tons on its way)

Large black floats are the first remnants of Japan's devastating earthquake and tsunami to begin washing up on the American coastline.
The debris traveled 4,500 miles on Pacific Ocean currents, pushed by wind and water, to reach the beaches of Neah Bay in far northwestern Washington state 280 days after the Japanese disaster.
Some 100 million tons of debris -- from wrecked fishing vessels to household furniture and even body parts -- is bearing down on the West Coast, raising environmental fears about the impact of massive amounts of wreckage clogging beaches.

Lisbon Maine Council Workshop

2012-2013 BUDGET

Last Tuesday, December 13, 2011, the Town Council held its first Workshop devoted to the 2012-2013 town budget.  Of course, there was no notification of the subject matter going to be discussed on the town web site.  In fact, there was no agenda posted under the Agenda section of the web site.  The town council does not want you to attend or know what is going on.  Residents cannot speak or ask questions but at least you would understand which council is doing what to you.  Thank you for the article on the Lisbon Reporter detailing what took place at this workshop.

Pomelow is concerned about the roads in town especially Route 196.  Wake up Lori, Route 196 is scheduled to be repaved by the state in the spring of next year.  You should be more concerned about the roads your husband’s tractor trailers are destroying daily.  Local roads are not designed to handle the excessive weight of tractor trailers loaded or unloaded.

Bowie (the puppet master) wants every town employee, except his wife, a lump sum one-time bonus because of the lack of pay raises and the manner they have been treated.  Apparently, Bowie forgot the 2011-2012 budgets approved a 1.75% pay raise for all town employees and some department heads received $10,000 pay increases.  Could it be he is losing his memory along with everything else?  Bowie cannot include his wife because this would violate the Ethics Panel 2009 ruling on conflict of interest.  Are you kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mason was the only councilor who offered a suggestion to help reduce the operating cost of the town.  Gina made a great suggestion of allowing overnight camping at Beaver Park for a fee.  Bowie jumped in and suggested the town combine the Parks Department with the Recreation Department with a cost saving by removing Verla Brooks as department head because she does not need to be at Beaver Park 24/7.  According to Bowie the police department can handle any problems.  Are you kidding me, first the Police Department has plenty to do, even if they choose not to, without handling Beaver Park.  Second, Verle Brooks has done an excellent job with Beaver Park.  Adding Beaver Park to the Recreation Department is not going to save any funding but it will increase the requirements to travel back and forth.  So where will the additional vehicle come from and is the town going to have to pay for gas and maintenance on yet another vehicle?  It is perfectly clear to me Bowie has no clue or desire to improve the town efficiency or reduce the overall operating cost of Lisbon.  Bowie continues to demonstrate his lack of desire to reduce taxes in this town.

Ward and Lunt are not property taxpayers in Lisbon so they do not have a vested interest to reduce taxes in this town.  Both have stated they do not believe the citizens of Lisbon can handle a tax increase.  The proof is in the pudding, we will have to wait and see how they vote when it comes time.

Eldridge wants to move garden mowing to Parks Department.  Moving the cost from one department to the other is not a cost reduction.  It is a method to conceal operating costs.  This is exactly the method Eldridge utilizes to cover up the real cost of the operating the Police and Fire Departments.

Why don’t we do something special this year and require the town manager and the finance director to list every line item in the department or sub division it is associated with reflecting the true operating cost.  This way there will be no hiding cost and will enable the taxpayers to see exactly where there tax dollars are being spent.

Why doesn’t the town council look for real cost saving in an effort to reduce the operating cost of the town in order to reduce spending and our taxes.  We have suggested combining the Police and Fire Department into the Public Safety Department.  We could eliminate both Brooks and Galipeau and get a qualified individual as Public Safety Director.  Turn the Communication Center over to the County.  This would save the town of Lisbon approximately $500,000 taxpayers’ dollars and help the County Commissioners with their problem of how to consolidate Communications Centers.  It would also enable the town of Lisbon to receive revenue from the County for rental on the communication space in the town office building.  What a concept save $500,000 tax dollars and in exchange receive a rental fee (money coming into the town)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Peter Reuter; this town council needs to be tested for drugs several times a year.  These individuals are making decisions affecting our taxes and our way of life.  I want to ensure they drug free making these decisions.

If you’ve caught Mitt Romney speak for more than five seconds during any of the recent televised GOP debates, you’d know that he spent most of his life in the private sector. But did you also know he’s been dropping KKK slogans on the campaign trail?
Among the little quips that the millionaire, wealthy, white former governor from Massachusetts has spat on the road to Washington is the urging to “keep America American.” Oddly enough, those three words aren’t all that original, as it looks as if ol’ Mitt has stolen the slogan from a group you wouldn’t normally think to cross — the Ku Klux Klan.

Japanese government diverts tsunmai relief funds to pay for whaling fleet security force By: StingRay

Right now, the Japanese whaling fleet is barrelling south to hunt thousands of majestic whales, escorted by a 30 million dollar security force paid for out of the tsunami disaster relief fund!
Anti-whaling champions were successfully blocking the Japanese whale hunt -- which is exactly why the Japanese government decided to swipe money from relief efforts to stop the activists from bothering the boats while they engage in their brutal slaughter.
If we can stop the whaling security and get the relief money back for desperate Japanese citizens still languishing in radioactive hotspots, we could help end the whale hunt for good. Japanese PM Noda is already under enormous pressure after scandalous failures to compensate victims of the nuclear disaster. A massive global outcry can spark outrage inside and outside Japan and force Noda to use precious relief funds to save people, not kill whales - sign the petition on the right and share this campaign with everyone.

I will say this over and over again.  The handful of Elite (the Sen ASS tors and CONgress) who wrote and then passed the military indefinite detainment bill for U.S. Citizens, do NOT REPRESENT ME!  If people really thought about it, those who were elected to represent us in D.C. have not done so.

The Nation of the United States has Fallen!  It was destroyed from the Inside Out!  Everyone of the Elected Officials in Washington D.C. DESTROYED the United States of America for all the people of America!  It is no longer a nation of our forefathers.  It has died.

MSM is SILENT on this bill - there is no mention of it!   MSM hides everything and they literally are a joke.  I have nothing but contempt for all MSM media!

Huffington Post has been writing about the Indefinite Detainment of U.S. citizens and they are considered a Democrat leaning site.   Finally for the first time Drudge has mentioned it today and this is after the fact, at least Huffington has been writing about it from the beginning.

How is it, a handful of people who break the law all the time themselves (insider trading, etc) have the right to enact any law that takes away our basic rights under the Constitution?  How come "We the People" have to  abide by any law, literally a handful that are totally corrupt, besides being bank and big corporation controlled enact?  They are not even .001% of the people on a whole, they live by different laws then what they write for everyone else.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone following the GOP Presidential Nomination process, that the establishment wants a Romney vs Obamney ticket for the general selection in 2012.
We believe that this is a thinly veiled plan to get Obama 4 more years as POTUS. But, How far would the Powers than be (no one ever really names or faces the dreaded “eSTABlishment” … Suffice to say its David Rockefeller – Wall St. and the Fed, from both the left and the right… ) I digress…How far would they go to get that “dream” ticket of  Bilderberg vs Bilderberg, Tweed vs tweedy, elite vs elitist…?
Its fleshing out right now in Iowa.
It seems the plan might be familiar. Just as the mass media and her “pundits” have written off any Straw Poll victories captured by the Ron Paul Campaign (Paul Just won a few more of those in Florida over the last 24 hrs! You would hear that on the news though…) , so will they minimize a Paul victory in the Iowa Caucus this January 3rd. This is a certainty. If Paul wins, Romney is safe, and Newt is damaged goods.
With a near guarantee of M-Rom winning New Hampshire (not so fast) Live Free or Die… Romney’s “Home” State is NH because he has a beach house there… M-Rom would allegedly have a clear path to Florida. (SC going to anyone BUT Romney)
Maybe NH has other ideas:

RAIDING THE TOWN TILL

The Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting published an excellent article on corruption in small town and their finance departments.  It is too bad these people did not come to Lisbon and investigate the Economic Community Development Department.

The town of Lisbon just completed another annual audit and passed with flying colors.  But according to the article a Mr. John S. Eldridge III, Brunswick’s finance director, said, “I can’t speak to individual situations, but a lot of things happen when you trust people.  Fraud is committed by people we trust.”  He continued on to said, the annual audit shouldn’t be the only means for looking for fraud. The purpose of an audit is to render an opinion on whether the financials have been fairly stated.” In other words, an audit won’t necessarily find a problem if someone has made an effort to hide them.  An audit is only as good as the financial statements presented to the auditor, said accountant Ron H.R. Smith, who is a certified fraud examiner.

I personally believe Brooks, Bowie and Eldridge are trying to bury mistakes made in the past.  It is like the $32,500 dollars issued to the Atlantic Commercial Cleaners.  No matter how hard Brooks investigated this case he could not gather enough information to prosecute anyone for the misappropriations of these funds.  I believe the real reason is because if this case went to court the truth would come out implicating some key personnel in the town of Lisbon at the time.  Isn’t it strange there has been no reported action, in the past several months, since Eldridge announce the town was going to file a civil lawsuit to collect the funds?  I do not believe this will ever see the inside of a court room.

Wouldn’t it be outstanding if the Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting was to investigate the Economic Community Development Department for the past 10 years?  There is a possibility the town of Lisbon could recoup the missing $32,500.00.

Occupy Endgame: law enforcement arrests 1%’s war & economic criminals

The brilliant 2-minute video from Waiting for the Storm at left is a message for police, sheriff, and military law enforcement to arrest US political, economic, and corporate “leadership” who have committed obvious crimes.
Occupy’s endgame, in retrospect, will be obvious: after a period of “emperor has no clothes” expository communication from independent Internet media to the 99% and citizen engagement with those facts, those with arrest authority exercised it to remove criminal leadership from power.
The first criminal arrests will be for War Crimes and financial fraud. The most notable will be “leadership” of both US political parties and from the largest financial institutions involved in mortgage and “investment” frauds.

If we are the "greatest economy on earth", then why are one out of every four American children on food stamps? The shocking statistics that you are about to read below should absolutely break your heart. Tonight, millions of precious American children will go to bed without any dinner. Tonight, millions of American children will shiver as they try to go to sleep because their families cannot afford any heat. How bad does child poverty have to get before we all finally admit that our economic system is completely failing many of the most vulnerable members of our society? If you want someone to blame, you can blame Congress, the Obama administration, the Bush administration and the corrupt Wall Street bankers. But most of all, blame the Federal Reserve and the debt-based monetary system that the Fed administers. Our economy is in the midst of a long-term decline and is slowly but surely dying. Many of those that are suffering the most from this decline are children.

The following are 16 shocking statistics about child poverty in America that will break your heart....

#1 Child homelessness in the United States is now 33 percent higher than it was back in 200

Confusion caused by military drill rattles markets

A rumor that Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz sent oil prices skyrocketing today, but the story turned out to be inaccurate and was likely a result of confusion surrounding an upcoming Iranian military drill set to take place near the key oil choke point.

Family Guy Writer Describes Harrowing Occupy Arrest

Patrick Meighan
My Occupy LA Arrest

My name is Patrick Meighan, and I’m a husband, a father, a writer on the Fox animated sitcom “Family Guy”, and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Santa Monica.
I was arrested at about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning with 291 other people at Occupy LA. I was sitting in City Hall Park with a pillow, a blanket, and a copy of Thich Nhat Hanh’s “Being Peace” when 1,400 heavily-armed LAPD officers in paramilitary SWAT gear streamed in. I was in a group of about 50 peaceful protestors who sat Indian-style, arms interlocked, around a tent (the symbolic image of the Occupy movement). The LAPD officers encircled us, weapons drawn, while we chanted “We Are Peaceful” and “We Are Nonviolent” and “Join Us.”
As we sat there, encircled, a separate team of LAPD officers used knives to slice open every personal tent in the park. They forcibly removed anyone sleeping inside, and then yanked out and destroyed any personal property inside those tents, scattering the contents across the park. They then did the same with the communal property of the Occupy LA movement. For example, I watched as the LAPD destroyed a pop-up canopy tent that, until that moment, had been serving as Occupy LA’s First Aid and Wellness tent, in which volunteer health professionals gave free medical care to absolutely anyone who requested it. As it happens, my family had personally contributed that exact canopy tent to Occupy LA, at a cost of several hundred of my family’s dollars. As I watched, the LAPD sliced that canopy tent to shreds, broke the telescoping poles into pieces and scattered the detritus across the park. Note that these were the objects described in subsequent mainstream press reports as “30 tons of garbage” that was “abandoned” by Occupy LA: personal property forcibly stolen from us, destroyed in front of our eyes and then left for maintenance workers to dispose of while we were sent to prison.

An Open Letter from America’s Port Truck Drivers on Occupy the Ports

We are the front-line workers who haul container rigs full of imported and exported goods to and from the docks and warehouses every day. We have been elected by committees of our co-workers at the Ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle, Tacoma, New York and New Jersey to tell our collective story. We have accepted the honor to speak up for our brothers and sisters about our working conditions despite the risk of retaliation we face. One of us is a mother, the rest of us fathers. Between the five of us we have 11children and one more baby on the way. We have a combined 46 years of experience driving cargo from our shores for America’s stores.

War on Iran has Already Begun. Act before it Threatens all of us

Escalation of the covert US-Israeli campaign against Tehran risks a global storm. Opposition has to get more serious

They don’t give up. After a decade of blood-drenched failure in Afghanistan and Iraq, violent destabilisation of Pakistan and Yemen, the devastation of Lebanon and slaughter in Libya, you might hope the US and its friends had had their fill of invasion and intervention in the Muslim world.
It seems not. For months the evidence has been growing that a US-Israeli stealth war against Iran has already begun, backed by Britain and France. Covert support for armed opposition groups has spread into a campaign of assassinations of Iranian scientists, cyber warfare, attacks on military and missile installations, and the killing of an Iranian general, among others.

Lisbon Maine Town Council Meeting

TOWN COUNCIL MEEETING

The last Town Council meeting was the inauguration of the newest members voted into office in our last election.  This event was done very well and all new members, minus Norma Wells, took their oath of office.  Liza Ward was sworn in and took her place on the Town Council.

In a dramatic turn of events, Councilor LaRochelle was voted in as this year’s Chairman of the Town Council.  Apparently, puppet master Bowie did not have confidence enough in Pomelow for her to become Chairperson.  I totally agree with him since her screw-up with the Council Working Rules and her short temper with residents.  However, Bowie did allow her to remain as Vice Chair.  Congratulations Fern.

The town received their annual audit presentation and passed with flying colors.  Keep in mind this was not a forensic audit.  Also the audit team does not review the Economic Community Development Department to ensure individuals receiving loans met the criteria for the type of loan received.

The Ethics Panel Chairman David Bowie gave the panel’s summary of findings and recommendation to the Town Council on whether or not there is a conflict of interest with Bowie.  You all know the results and my feelings.  No more needs to be said.

The Town Manager, who never provided on the town web site, the topics he was going to discuss.  It will be impossible to comply with the Councilor Working Rules if the citizens have no idea what is going to be discussed.  Is the new Chair going to force the Town Manager to post his agenda on the town web site or allow the people to address their comments during “Other Business”?  We shall see how Chairman LaRochelle will handle this problem.

Finally, there were two Agenda’s posted on the town web site.  One was posted on Friday and the other one was posted on Monday.  It was amazing because Monday’s agenda did not have “Corrected Copy” on it so if you were not paying close attention one would never realize the changes.  A simple act such as putting “Corrected Copy” at the top of the agenda would have eliminated any confusion.  Instead of paralegal training, why not send our people for simple administrative procedures training.  When can the people expect simple administrative procedures to be followed in this town?

Iran to Practice Ability to Close Strait of Hormuz [???]

December 12th, 2011 Via: Reuters:
A member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee said on Monday that the military was set to practise its ability to close the Gulf to shipping at the narrow Strait of Hormuz, the most important oil transit channel in the world, but there was no official confirmation.
The legislator, Parviz Sarvari, told the student news agency ISNA: “Soon we will hold a military manoeuvre on how to close the Strait of Hormuz. If the world wants to make the region insecure, we will make the world insecure.”

Drones Officially Take Flight For Domestic Law Enforcement, Heralding a New Level of the Police State

It is a sign of just how fast the police state is advancing that drones in American skies have gone from conspiracy theory to admitted fact in about a year.

In a precedent-setting event, local law enforcement in North Dakota nabbed three suspected armed men with the help of a Predator B unmanned drone.  It was only after the drone confirmed that the men were unarmed that police moved in to make the arrest.

EPA Admits Fracking Causing Groundwater Pollution

Anthony Gucciardi
Activist Post

The EPA has finally admitted that fracking; the controversial act of pumping water and chemicals underground in order to facilitate the flow of oil or gas, is causing groundwater pollution.

The chemicals involved in the fracking process are highly toxic, and many activists have been speaking out against fracking due to the threat to public health that the technique poses. Many viral videos have actually shown residents of fracking towns lighting their tap water on fire due to the high gas content.

The new EPA findings could significantly impact the fracking process, with the possibility of future regulations going into place to halt the environmental impact of fracking. The real question is whether or not the EPA will take the appropriate steps to reduce or even stop fracking, after ignoring the threat for quite some time.

How Low Can US Candidates go Pandering for Money …

“Like America’s national interest, Palestinians are sacrificed by the average voter’s indifference and the utter moral impotency at the highest elected political office in the face of the strongest US foreign interest lobby.”
By: Jamal Kanj*
The American election signifies the start of the political harvest season for the strongest US foreign lobby. American presidential hopefuls vying for Jewish money and vote, with varying designed Yamakas, line up at fundraiser events from New York to Hollywood Californian, typically before making a shameful toadying “pilgrimage” to the supposed Wailing Wall in East Jerusalem.

The 2012 election season has started in earnest with Republicans and the President (Democratic) nominee pandering equally to the powerful pro-Israel Jewish lobby.

17-Year-Old Girl Creates Nanoparticle That Kills Cancer, Wins $100,000

When I was seventeen, it was a very good year. Actually, that’s a flat out lie. When I was seventeen I was probably wallowing in self-important despair so trivial that now, years later, I can’t even remember if I was wallowing or not. The point I’m getting at here is that I wasn’t doing anything productive, much less anything that could save countless lives and contribute to a field of science that is more important now than it has ever been. That’s what Angela Zhang was doing, and now, she’s $100,000 the richer for it. Also, she can say she’s created a nanoparticle, one that kills cancer, for what that’s worth (Spoiler: It’s worth a lot).

A letter FROM the North Pole

Dear Customer Thank you for all your letters in the past. Yes, I have been remiss in replying, but please understand that things get very busy at the North Pole, we only have daylight for 6 months, and being in the middle of an icecap floating on an ocean, everything we use at the toy shop has to be flown in. We're outside the usual Fed-ex routes, so we're still using the reindeer. Letters take paper. Paper requires trees. See any trees up here on those National Geographic specials? Okay, you get the idea.
But I feel I owe you a reply after all this time, plus there are a few things I would like to get straight between us.
No more cookies. I always feel obligated to take a bite out of the cookie left by your Christmas tree lest whoever made it feel slighted. But that's 100 million cookies I have to nibble in the continental United States alone every single Christmas, and I am trying to lose weight because chimneys are getting smaller.

Kucinich: Protect Our Food Supply from Genetically Manufactured Crises

Activist Post

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today announced commonsense legislation that would prohibit open-air cultivation of Genetically Engineered (GE) pharmaceutical and industrial crops, preventing biological contamination of our food supply. The bill would also establish a tracking system to regulate and ensure the safety of GE pharmaceutical and industrial crops.

“We must take steps to prevent genetically engineered organisms from being grown in a way that could do irreversible damage to our food supply. Under pressure from profit-minded industry, we have already allowed the spread of genetically modified crops into our agriculture at great cost to our economy and with unknown effects on our bodies,” said Kucinich.

10 of The Craziest Things Newt Gingrich Has Ever Said

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is the latest not-Romney to capture the attention of GOP primary voters. With a solid lead in three early primary states, he’s giving the erstwhile front-runner a serious run for his money. While Newt may be the flavor of the moment, the Iowa caucuses are just three weeks away, so while he's behind in fund-raising and has had trouble organizing a nationwide campaign, it's impossible to count him out.

In light of his resurgence, let’s take a trip down memory lane and examine some of the most absurd statements Gingrich has made over the years. Rehashing every outrageous comment by Gingrich would be a lengthy endeavor, so this is not a comprehensive list.

By employing a plethora of tax-dodging techniques, 30 multi-million dollar American corporations expended more money lobbying Congress than they paid in federal income taxes between 2008 and 2010, ultimately spending approximately $400,000 every day -- including weekends -- during that three-year period to lobby lawmakers and influence political elections, according to a new report from the non-partisan Public Campaign.

Police State Mercenaries Ruin More Lives than They Protect

I like to think of myself as a pleasant and easy going person, but I just couldn’t help from being overcome with rage and disgust as I sat in my grimy holding cell this past Friday. The legal fees, the hassles, the boredom and the fact that I probably just lost my job definitely had me upset, but it was just the blatant corruption of the situation that I found to be absolutely sickening. The sheer arrogance and hubris exhorted by the mercenaries that were holding me and several others hostage. This language might be a bit strong for some, but I feel that I’m describing the situation quite accurately.

What Really Happened in the Russian Elections » Counterpunch: Tells the Facts, Names the Names

Moscow is unusually warm: the temperature refuses to dip below zero degrees Centigrade, the freezing point. Instead, it is wet and dark. The sun gets up late and goes to sleep early. To make matters worse, President Medvedev decided to keep Russia on daylight savings time throughout winter. To offset this stupid decision, Christmas illumination was turned on a month before the usual time, in order to cheer up the voters. Now it lights the way for the armoured vans of the riot police sent in to pacify the cheery electorate.

Occupy Boston protesters remain at encampment after midnight deadline passes for them to leave

BOSTON — A diminished Occupy Boston encampment held its ground early Friday after police decided not to immediately enforce a midnight deadline that the mayor had set for them to leave a city square.
Two protesters were arrested after police said they moved a tent into a street and refused to move, blocking traffic. But there were no other serious confrontations between the demonstrators and supporters who gathered at the site as the deadline loomed.
