A woman who was pepper sprayed during during a raid on Occupy Seattle last week is blaming police after she miscarried Sunday.Jennifer Fox, 19, told The Stranger that she had been with the Occupy protests since they started in Westlake Park. She said she was homeless and three months pregnant, but felt the need to join activists during their march last Tuesday.
“I was standing in the middle of the crowd when the police started moving in,” Fox recalled. “I was screaming, ‘I am pregnant, I am pregnant. Let me through. I am trying to get out.’”

Attorney Says Macondo Well Still Leaks Oil From Seafloor

Courthouse News Service
NEW ORLEANS (CN) - An environmental attorney said oil is still leaking from BP's Macondo Formation more than 16 months after the well was declared sealed. The attorney said the only explanation for fresh oil bearing the Macondo fingerprint that's washed ashore on barrier islands is that the seafloor was damaged during the Deepwater Horizon blowout, and oil is seeping through.

This is so unbelievable and it is hard to understand how it is possible. How is it the most blatant stealing of money by a Wall Street Broker out of it's clients accounts and there have been no arrest or charges filed against anyone?

Trickle-down tyranny - why ordinary people in positions of local power are adopting tactics of tyrants

Natural News
When I read a story yesterday about an 89-year-old woman being water-boarded by nursing home staff over an argument about ice cream, I knew something terrible was amiss across the American landscape. Spontaneous acts of tyranny have been cropping up lately like cancer tumors: a food tyrant in Nevada raids a farm picnic and orders everyone to destroy their food; student protesters in California get pepper-sprayed by thuggish cops who clearly enjoy causing pain and suffering; and now nursing home staffers torture their own resident using techniques borrowed from Guantanamo Bay.
I watched all this with a sense of sadness and disgrace for the human race. And then a realization hit me like a sledgehammer...

Police State Watch: Curling Up In a Ball to Avoid Police Violence May Be Considered “Active Resistance” … Justifying the Use of MORE FORCE, Including Baton Strikes
In a Police State Like Modern America, Even Peaceful Resistance Is Considered Violence and Cause for Even More Brutality
As I’ve repeatedly documented, passive resistance is considered “violence” and aggression in today’s militarized police state.
For example, protesters peacefully linking arms is considered “violence” by the UC Berkeley police. And failing to get on the ground is grounds to beat a peaceful war hero so bad that his spleen is ruptured (and then denying him medical treatment for 18 hours).
Of course pregnant women, old ladies, judges, legal observers (and see this), reporters , veterans andskinny students are all scary and violent enemies who need to be beaten into submission.

Think of it: no phony “debates”, no stage shows, no mud slinging ads, no having to hear the same lame lies andstatements as one candidate after another tries to convince us that he/she will reverse the terrible destructive course the US is on. We don’t need to subject ourselves to any of it; the fix is in and Obama wins hands down, no competition……or at least none that the Republican party will acknowledge. Why upset the status quo?

Scientists Weaponize Deadly Bird Flu, Consider Releasing Results Necessary to Create Bioweapon

It sounds like something out of a bizarre science fiction comic book, but scientists have weaponized the H5N1 bird flu virus, and are actually considering releasing the research.
The experiments, which involved mutating the virus a total of 5 times, made the strain highly contagious between ferrets — the very animal model used to study human flu infection.

COMMON SENSE
In an effort to save tax dollars, the Town Council voted to turn off streetlights. Now, the Town of Lisbon is dark and susceptible to crime. Council Mason, what does this do for your “Main Street” project? The Town Council is trying to conserve your tax dollars which is commendable but misguided.
Let’s look at a more viable solution. What would be the tax dollar savings if the Police and Fire Department were consolidated to form the Public Safety Department? We currently have a Fire Chief who does not have the credentials to be a Fire Chief and we are fortunate enough to have a Deputy Fire Chief who is fully qualified and has all the credentials plus is a member of the Maine Fire Chief Associations. Why in the world should the taxpayers continue to pay for a Fire Chief who does not possess the credentials when we have a fully qualified Deputy Fire Chief? The tax dollars savings is over $70,000.00 dollars annually (the current Fire Chief’s salary).
By consolidating the two departments and letting the current Fire Chief go, the Town of Lisbon can save $70,000.00 dollars annually. This solution would not reduce or eliminate any services provided to the citizens of Lisbon. However, it would enable the streetlights to remain on and would not put our residents at risk. Having the streetlights out puts our people of risk and increases the possibility of crime. Since both of these options are public safety issues which makes more sense to you?
Keep in mind, with the streetlights out Brooks will be looking for additional funds to increase his police force next year. Why are we continually shooting ourselves in the foot when common sense can provide a reasonable and profitable solution to the problem?

Demonstrations' to be banned during Olympics'
The Home Office is so concerned about the impact of the stalemate over the Occupy London (OLSX) encampment outside St Paul's Cathedral that officials have been ordered to produce plans for avoiding a similar conflict during the Games next summer.
Ministers' plans, based on the measures put in place to remove long-term protesters from outside Parliament, includes identifying "exclusion zones" around key locations, and fast-tracking the removal of protests that do not have the blessing of the authorities. It would permit police to move in and disperse encampments quickly, in line with last week's clearance of the Occupy Wall Street camp in New York.

Amazon Kindles 'damaged by airport scanners'
Travellers have been warned that their holiday reading plans could be disrupted by airport security measures, following reports that Amazon’s Kindle e-reader can be damaged by X-ray scanners.
The Kindle's screen is made of electronic ink Photo: AP
Multiple complaints from users that their Kindle was ruined by a baggage check prompted claims that radiation permanently affected the device's electronic ink display.
“After my Kindle went through the X-ray scanner at Madrid airport, it no longer worked. I had been reading an e-book on the way to the airport so I knew there could be no other reason,” said Michael Hart, from London.
“A phone call was made and someone came along and took photographs of the bad display. It's my belief that the scanner operator – who subsequently questioned me about a radio in my bag – had used a high dose to look into the radio, and the Kindle, too.”

In response to coordinated attacks on the occupations and attacks on workers across the nation:
Occupy Oakland calls for the blockade and disruption of the economic apparatus of the 1% with a coordinated shutdown of ports on the entire West Coast on December 12th. The 1% has disrupted the lives of longshoremen and port truckers and the workers who create their wealth, just as coordinated nationwide police attacks have turned our cities into battlegrounds in an effort to disrupt our Occupy movement.

It is very obvious the Town of Lisbon is in deep downward spiral. Look on the town web site for the agenda for Tuesday’s workshop. It is not there. When Councilor Cote was not reelected, the town of Lisbon began its uncontested reign of terror. There was little transparency in government before but now there is absolutely no transparency. This standing council, headed by the Bowie, does not want the citizens to know what the council is doing.
The first indication is no agenda posted for Tuesday’s workshop. Even through the public cannot speak at a workshop; the residents have a right to know what is being discussed. According to Vice Chair, soon to be Chair, Pomelow the people have no rights and should be see but never heard. Pomelow, under the guidance of Bowie, has done everything she can to prevent the citizens from having a say on any issue brought before the council. Look at her feeble attempt at changing the Council Working Rules. Individuals are only allowed to speak on issues during Audience Participation. This means speaking before the issues is explained by the sponsor. How can anyone intelligently address an issue without understand why or what the issue is? This demonstrates the logic of Pomelow and this council.
Why can’t the people know and understand what is going on in their town? Councilor Mason used to encourage residents to become more involved in what goes on in Lisbon. Now she sits back and does what she is told by Bowie. She is only allowed to speak on social events in the town, like a Social Director.
The people have a right under the United States and Maine Constitutions’ for a transparent government open to the public. This is not happening in the town of Lisbon. The people have a right to know what is being discussed at Council Meetings and Workshops. The Agenda and all documents being utilized at meetings or workshops should be posted on the town web site enabling citizens to choose to attend or not these meetings or workshops. As it stands right now, the residents do not have any idea what is going on. Keeping the residents of Lisbon in the dark is the primary mission of this standing council. This allows the council to perform underhanded dealings which cost the taxpayers large amounts of their tax dollars. Look at 3 Village Street!!!!!!

GOP outsider Ron Paul gaining traction in Iowa
NAMOSA, Iowa (AP) — Texas Rep. Ron Paul is emerging as a significant factor in the Republican presidential race, especially in Iowa.
He's been long dismissed by the GOP establishment, but the libertarian-leaning candidate is now turning heads beyond his hard-core followers — and rising in some polls — just weeks before the state holds the leadoff presidential caucuses and four years since his failed 2008 bid.
Paul's sharp criticism of government spending and U.S. monetary policy hasn't changed since then.

Lobbying firm's memo spells out plan to undermine Occupy Wall Street
A well-known Washington lobbying firm with links to the financial industry has proposed an $850,000 plan to take on Occupy Wall Street and politicians who might express sympathy for the protests, according to a memo obtained by the MSNBC program “Up w/ Chris Hayes.”
The proposal was written on the letterhead of the lobbying firm Clark Lytle Geduldig & Cranford and addressed to one of CLGC’s clients, the American Bankers Association.
CLGC’s memo proposes that the ABA pay CLGC $850,000 to conduct “opposition research” on Occupy Wall Street in order to construct “negative narratives” about the protests and allied politicians. The memo also asserts that Democratic victories in 2012 would be detrimental for Wall Street and targets specific races in which it says Wall Street would benefit by electing Republicans instead.

SOPA Causes Anonymous To Declare Operation Blackout
by Popeye
Lindsay ONeal) Last month, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) was introduced to the House of Representatives aiming to censor key aspects of the Internet in order protect the rights of the entertainment industry. The PROTECT IP Act, the Senate counterpart to SOPA, already passed earlier this year, but enforcement has been shelved for the time being due to rising concerns that it has the power to impede freedom of speech. While both bills state they are trying to help the entertainment industry sell more movies and music downloads, the effects of the bill are far-reaching and potentially devastating to Internet freedom as well as to the Internet itself.
SOPA caught the attention of Anonymous and on Wednesday they released this video which warned:

And all of a sudden, out of nowhere, he throws her to the ground and starts hitting her in the head,” says Smith.

Lisbon Maine Councilor Conflicts
Councilor Bowie's Conflict
Councilor Bowie's wife working as an administration assistant with the Police Department poses a massive conflict of interest for Mr. Bowie.
Mr Bowie should recuse himself not only on pay issues affecting his wife but on ALL Police Department business.
As long as Mrs. Bowie works for the PD, the department has indirect if not direct leverage on one of the council votes. If Mr. Bowie doesn't push the PD agenda the department has the ability to affect the quality of life in the Bowie household.
It could even effect their income. The threat of job loss is always there. A department head can always find a legitimate reason to fire an employee.
State and Federal lawmakers are never allowed to pass legislation that directly affects their own business ventures .Why shouldn't we hold our local politicians to the same standard. Mr Bowie shouldn't be allowed to vote on matters that could potentially affect his family income.
I am surprised this obvious conflict has been overlooked for so long.
Mr. Larochelle has often talked about the council policing itself .This conflict is a good place to start.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are Lisbon Councilors subject to the regulations that they pass or have they exempted themselves from the inconvenience of having to abide by their own laws?
Councilor Pomelow seems to be ignorant of the "winter" parking regulations in Lisbon. Large over sized tractor trailer trucks have been spotted regularly parked in front of the councilors home. This in my opinion is in violation of the following Town Ordinance.
Sec. 50-45. Winter parking between 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m.The owner or operator of any motor vehicle found parked or left unattended upon any way for a continuous 60-minute period between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. of any day during the period from November 1 to April 1 of each year shall, physicians on emergency calls excepted, be punished by a fine as provided in aricle V of this chapter.
I hope Chief Brooks will take notice and enforce the town laws equally regardless of Mrs. Pomelows position as Town Councilor and his Boss.

In my opinion Lisbon Councilors should approach their duties from the level of their lowest income residents. If they rule from a more affluent perspective they will be placing undue hardship on many elderly and low income residents.
Government should take care of the basic requirements of the community, Police and Fire protection along with Road maintenance, public transportation and the daily administrative duties of the Town. It shouldn't be used to fund special projects that many cannot afford. If people want these additional non essential projects they should shoulder the costs themselves. Councilors shouldn't be allowed to pass along the cost of their own desires or that of their friends onto the less fortunate.
Struggling taxpayers shouldn't be required to pay for the pet projects of the more affluent Councilors.
Why should A struggling senior citizen or single parent making 15 or 20 thousand a year be required to pay for a first rate Police Department with all its trappings at the expense of getting their own medications or food. And at the same time be refused basic public transportation because the powers that be don't need the bus service. This is morally criminal.
Why should a elderly Lisbon resident lose their lifelong home or worse because a Councilor wants kudos for adding a third or forth unnecessary vehicle to any department or some other unneeded expenditure.
A good leader takes into consideration all the ramifications of their decisions..
I hope Lisbon Councilors remember they were voted onto the Council to serve the public not to use the position to improve their own social standing.
